Tunnel Mountain Resort

Absolutely beautiful loft style accommodation with a view of the mountain right outside my window. The chalet had a wood burning fireplace and the porch backs onto a forest with a view of the mountains. The only thing was the pool and steam shower were unavailable and only the sauna worked when I went. This was quite disappointing considering the cost.

Booked a room and the bathroom had mold pink stuff.nThe staff apologized and gave us another room which was better. Although cleanliness is still an issue. Other than that the place is good, and view is amazing.

The pullout in the living room was terrible. We finally figured out how to put the mattress on the floor. it was lumpy and springs squeaked. The kitchen lacked the basic pots and no salt or pepper. Spartan is the word that comes to mind. A few simple things would make this a very nice rental. I guess it's a tourist spot so they have to try hard but I'd imagine they get a lot of less than great reviews. The property is very nice and the service was great but the lack of necessities and a lumpy bed leave a lot to be desired.

Gave it a second chance and it failed. Unclean, Moldy, inspect the bed before your sleep in it. Staff are nice and service is good but management has let this place slide.nnIll save you time. We are local and have been going to Banff since the 80's as kids. Now as adults we use it as a staycation specifically for the a Cabin in the mountains feel with a view and a fire place. We camp weekly so our standards are lower than most, old is fine cleanliness is a must for the price.nnAfter seeing Buffalo Mountain lodge go downhill 2 year's ago we switched to Tunnel mountain resort. They are still old but that's part of the charm. Last time we stayed, after the weekend was over did we notice the blood and unwashed sheets. Things happen the manager was super apologetic and offered us a discount the next time.nnThe next time was a year later just this weekend. We booked a similar room and as always staff were great and pleasant. The room looked clean enough but was heavy with the smell of woodfire and cigarettes. We checked the bed and there was pubic hair in the sheets, gross. We asked for housekeeping to change the sheets but the manager called back and offered and upgrade to a larger room. Again the effort was good and we accepted. The new room had clean sheets and smelled better but the bathroom had terrible mold and mildew and the corners of the room looked like they have never seen soap. Almost every glass surface, TV's, glass railing have smears like they were wiped once with a dirty rag as some point in the last months. The kitchen light had a solid layer of dust and the ceiling beam had cobwebs with a thick layer of dust as well.nnUnfortunately that makes 2/4 hotels on Tunnel a bust. If you want to stay up there try Hidden Ridge or Douglas fur. But in any case lower your expectations as it seems a clean hotel in the area is not a given .

Bathroom was modern, bedroom was by the door so that was a little weird.nThe cleaning lady was very good, every day our room was spotless again.nWould not book again though, price- quality was not a match
