Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa

Second visit at this hotel. The rooms are cozy and I quite enjoy the wood smell, it fits the atmosphere perfectly. We stayed here for 3 nights this time. However, we were quite disappointed to find that the hot pool and sauna area were closed throughout our entire visit. No prior notice before checking in. We had “alternative options” but who wants to leave their hotel just to go to another? Having booked this hotel months in advance, it was quite annoying.nnOverall experience was good. Unsure if we would spend our money to return here though!

The staff we're lovely and very polite. Unfortunately, I had paid extra to upgrade our room for one with an exterior view but when i arrived the only window was tiny and in the corner blocked by a table and the view itself was of the alley and roof of the building next door, with only the slightest bit of a mountain peeking over top. I would not recommend paying for the superior rooms.nnHousekeeping was great for the first half of our stay, and the room was clean on arrival. However, halfway through, they stopped coming to the room completely. Would have been nice to have fresh towels, clean glasses, or the garbage emptied once or twice. After being gone the whole morning, the day before I checked out, I came back around noon to the room, still not clean. I specifically left the hotel and came back around 2:45 pm to see that housekeeping had been on the floor and stopped in other rooms but still had not visited mine. I left again until quite late to still no housekeeping. A very sour note to end my stay.

Room was nice, spacious enough for 4 of us. Bathroom had a nice tub and the water has a big range in terms of temperature, I think it's from the glaciers as it can be really cold. Service was very happy to help, and location is good as it is 10 minute walk from everything and bus station is less than a minute away. The hot pool is also really warm, constantly kept at 40°C, very nice.

Situated at the end of the main street, so a good 15 minute walk to amenities. Decor of hotel is pleasant and it was a swift check in. Free underground parking on a first come first served basis. Room is quiet and really quite large, no air conditioning but there's a fan and window to open. View is over a well kept courtyard. Two double beds , clean and comfy. It is well appointed: table, two chairs; coffee facilities; fridge, and plenty of storage. Only downside for me is there isn't any open outside space, such as a courtyard or landscaped area to sit and relax. All in all, reasonable hotel at a good price point - an excellent base.

The hotel here is a little on the older side, and about a 10-15 minute walk downtown. It has a bus stop right next to the green 1 which is convenient. The room we were in was on the top floor so the ceiling was so slanted that you had to walk directly next to the bed in order to not hit your head, which makes 1/4 of the room almost unusable. We found the elevators to be kind of clunky, loud, and not confidence inspiring.nThe hotel has most amenities you are looking for: restaurant, ice, vending machine, a room to sleep in.
