I’ve stayed here for conventions many years and have not seen too much change. The rooms are spacious and some views are better than others. The food is good there are also lots of restaurants in the area if you choose not to eat in the hotel. The gym and pool area is loaded with everything you need, water, headphones and towels. The sauna is small but still great. Parking is a bit tight. I’ve always managed to get parking in the hotel parking area.
Great place. The lobby smells great front desk are a bunch of professionals and kind people!! Literally all of them are super nice! The room though I wasn’t expecting that at all, it wasn’t that great the carpet was dirty and the room smelled like an old retirement home which I didn’t like however the location made it all worth it at the end. overall
I had the pleasure of drying here for work for a few days during the Skills Canada Alberta competition.nnVitalis at reception was outstanding. Great with conversation, friendly, warm and welcoming. She asked my preference for lower or higher level….very thoughtful.nnMy room was breath-taking - 1909 has a view over the city and at night a gorgeous view.nnLater in the evening I wasn’t feeling well and I sought hot water for a tea and I went to reception to ask for a water kettle to make a water bottle. Vitalia kindly arrange a kettle be delivered AND she brought me a tea to where I sat, working in the lobby. Alissa or Melissa? was also very kind and helpful when I sought Westin postcards/stationary which was tough to find. But we found a solution for me to send some love back home.nnThe fellow who brought the kettle was very polite and friendly.nnThe next day the Manager Joumana was making the rounds and she was a total delight to speak with.nnThe only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that the bathrooms could really use some upgrading - especially the tiles on the floor with the grit on them. And the fan/furnace was a little loud but I used it as white noise to help me fall asleep. Also, the location is no near any shopping, which is a little strange for me, accustomed to have shopping centres in the downtown area, near hotels I stay and I ends up taking an Uber to Southgate to get a bring home gift for my boy.nnI wish I had the chance to explore the restaurant or bar….next time!nnI can’t wait to return hopefully with my son and the grandparents and truly hope that these professional and unforgettable team members will still be around!nnThank you for a most pleasant stay!
I stayed here for a convention due to proximity along with other colleagues. The verdict is unanimous: This hotel is not living it up to Westin standard.nnRoom: extremely dated. Carpet is grungy and has not been replaced in decades. Room paint has stains. Cream wallpaper. Dented furniture. Loud A/C that makes your heart skip a beat when it stops/start. You can also feel steps from the floor above like a bowling alley.nnRoom service: Ordered Omelette and benedict for breakfast. Categorically, a 15 year old probably can do better job at cooking this dish. The egg benedict has fried egg instead of poached egg. The omelette taste like crepes being so thin. Our order was missing side dish too that we had to call up.nnHousekeeping: One of our days there, room was not cleaned and we had to call the front desk to remind them.nnThrough and through, this hotel is not the type of hotel that Edmonton wants or needs if its want to revitalize its image. This hotel does not do any justice to Edmontonians who wants to see thriving downtown and tourism. Being particularly close to convention centre, I would think that they will want to do better.
I run a DJ company in Edmonton called Market Sound Entertainment. We do a lot of events around Edmonton so I know the hotel scene very well. I can tell you that the Westin is wonderful to deal with.nnThe location couldn’t be better and they are very accommodating when it comes to helping you plan the perfect wedding or corporate party. The staff is super friendly and eager to help if you need anything.nnWe are in the thick of three straight days of events at the Westin, during this period the food was awesome, and I could not be more happy with how the staff has treated my company and our staff at this event. If they treat us this way, they will surely take good care of you as well.
