We were very comfortable at this hotel. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and the front desk staff were great! The only suggestion I have is to have coffee available in the lobby. The single cup machines just don't work for us.
I would have loved to give this hotel a great review but unfortunately the service we received was terrible. My wife prepared a wonderful Valentine get away and chose Coast Plaza. What a mistake. After spending just under an hour in line waiting to check in, we were more than a little surprised that there would be no compensation for our time. Our dinner plans were completely ruined and we ended up gobbling fast food in the room while hurriedly getting ready to go to a show. NOT the experience we were looking for. The romance was killed and the trip felt more stressful than if we had stayed home. My wife and I politely asked the clerk if she could at least comp breakfast but she said she could only ask the manager but probably not. We heard nothing from them. Also, we were sent an auto text asking about our stay and my wife replied with our displeasure, but there has been no response. If you are looking for a relaxing evening at a great hotel with great customer service, I'm sorry to say, this isn't the place for you. The nice rooms and very cool bidet do NOT make up for the terrible customer service.
I was very impressed by the staff. Especially the concierge. The price was so affordable for being in the Ice District! The view was beautiful and the rooms were clean. Every amenity was at our disposal. Though we did not get a chance to enjoy the pool, I did have a look. The pool is narrow, which I liked, for swimming. I noted how clean and maintained the hot tub and pool were.nI will definitely try it during our next stay.
The rooms at this hotel are quite nice, very comfortable beds, the hot tub amenity adds a quality addition to the stay, and staff are friendly. It is also well located in downtown Edmonton. However, I have stayed at this hotel twice now and both times I've been less than impressed with the attached restaurant, Preston's, and the available food options on site. The showers in the rooms are also pretty low water pressure. If you plan on eating elsewhere, and don't mind that there is no room service, this hotel is reasonable for the price.nnOn my most recent visit, one of the nights I stayed it was EXTREMELY cold outside like we're talking -30, feeling like -35 with the windchill cold. I didn't really want to go out for dinner, but when I called the front desk and asked if there was any room service options for food at around 8:30pm, there were no options - even though Preston's restaurant is attached to the hotel and advertised on the website as part of their amenities. I understand if maybe the restaurant is owned separately, but it would have been nice if guest services could offer up some kind of alternative. Maybe they don't offer guest service to the extent of bringing food up to rooms, but could they offer to allow a guest to order takeout from somewhere anywhere and instruct the delivery driver to leave it at the front desk for the guest to retrieve when it arrives? Or some other alternative? I called Preston's restaurant next, asking if they could prepare a takeout meal for me to pick up and bring back up to the room myself, and the restaurant also declined and said I would have to dine in. I was on a business trip alone, and did not wish to have dinner alone in a restaurant on an evening where it was -30 out. I wanted to be cozy in my room. So I ended up deciding to bundle up, get takeout from a local bar a few minutes away by walking there to pick it up, and I brought that back to my room myself. Admittedly I felt a bit disgruntled and wished that Coast Hotels could have offered some kind of better guest service option in this scenario, which would have made my stay much more comfortable.
Room was clean, room amenities good. Stayed in double suite, pillows like rocks and a portable ac unit in the room. Stayed in January in king suite was wonderful nice bedding, pillows etc. Booked a double room was more expensive than king suite. Avoid hotel restaurant as of march, servers were great, food service extremely slow waited over an hour for 3 burgers and a clubhouse, was not busy heard many complaints. Good location for events to Roger’s place, approximately 10 minute walk. Very slow check in process considering most have pre booked online.
