We booked a room with TWO QUEEN beds a month in advance. We really needed 2 queen beds as we were travelling with two teenage kids.nWhen we got to the hotel, the room was not ready. Finally, they gave us a king with a sofa bed. The reason I'm staying away from sofa beds is because they are extremely uncomfortable!! We always end up with horrible backpain! Unfortunately, this was the hotel chosen for Canada Volleyball Nationals.nI spoke with several front desk reps, I was told they are sorry and they will offer compensation. I actually called 4 times. Every single time I was told the manager will contact me, but never happened!nAlso, parking $32 per night? Are you joking? There was parking a 1/2 block away with $9 per night. This hotel is a joke, ABSOLUTELY not worth the money they ask for the rooms and parking! If you're looking for a hotel room WITHOUT even a microwave, then you found it! We paid for 4 people, but in the bathroom there are 2 towels! WHY HILTON when you charge for 4 people?nA professional way of doing this would have been to send us a notice that they cannot offer what we booked and give us a choice. They didn't, because they just want the money!!!!nI will never recommend Double Tree in Edmonton. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to a decent hotel where you are appreciated as a customer!
I spend quite a bit of time in hotels each year, easily over 100 nights, which has given me plenty of experiences to compare. This property stands out for a few reasons, and I'm genuinely grateful for the level of service here.nnI've noticed some other reviews mention things like no free breakfast or tight parking situations. In my experience, I've found these to be pretty standard issues in city hotels - and no full service hotel that I know of offers free breakfast to all guests.nnWhat also impresses me is the second-floor lounge. The quality of both the drinks and the food there is much better than what I get from most Doubletree properties. Also, the rooms are surprisingly spacious - much larger than a typical hotel room. Each one comes with a pretty big L shaped sofa bed, making the overall feel more akin to a mini-suite.nnThe staff's warmth and professionalism have been consistently remarkable, adding a lot to my stays. Considering everything, from the unexpectedly great lounge to the spaciousness of the rooms and the excellence of the staff, my experiences here have been very positive.nnCompared to other Doubletree locations, this one is much better than people give it credit for. If you’re worried about some of the other reviews, take a look at who is posting them and what they are complaining about. I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of people who stay here actually have a positive experience.
We travel a lot due to our kids competitive sports and stay in many hotels. I don't usually leave reviews unless they are exceptionally good or exceptionally bad because most times it's pretty standard. We had an exceptional experience with this hotel. The staff are absolutely amazing and went above and beyond for everything. Lance at the front desk was an absolute delight. He was so full of energy and was super helpful. The room was large, bright and clean. The lounge on the 2nd floor is a nice place to hang out and it was always very quiet and relaxing. We will 100% stay here again. The only complaint is that the door to the underground parking is very hard to get in and out of but it's a minor inconvenience to deal with. The parkade itself had lots of stalls and we were always able to get a space near the elevator.
Rooms are large and new, but not the cleanest.nThe area is full of addicts.nThe restaurant is pretty bad. The food is good. But they didn't have red wine for 4 days! I had a refill on my fountain pop, and it was $4.50! For the refill!nOne beer on tap. Asahi.....Why?nGet a new restaurant manager!
We stayed first time in this hotel to attend a business conference. It looks like it's fairly new with nice facilities. Rooms are very spacious with large sofa to have meeting inside your room. Check out my pictures. Banquet service need to be improved. Food are not properly tagged/displayed in lunch or happy hour gathering. During conference servers were not filling water inspite of reminders. Lounge staff was very curtious. Nice place to have meetings in lounge.
