We loved the location of this hotel and the view of the water from our corner room. The toilet was a nice Japanese toilet and the room was clean and modern. However the bed was way too soft for my liking and gave me back pain. Also, although the rooms are nicely decorated, the hotel lobby appears to have been decorated by someone completely different and is really unpleasantly decorated with strange resort style lounges and hideous orange “chandeliers”. I was really concerned when first stepping into the lobby but thankfully the rooms were tasteful.
Such a nice little place, conveniently located near the convention center and shopping.nThe rooms are nice size and the full sized beds comfortable.nThe bathrooms are amazing with bidets and the best shower heads ever.nThey are partnered with Preston’s Restaurant and offer patrons happy hour menu all day.nThe biggest downside to the entire experience was the TV and channels. No premium channels and no ability to stream either. So we watched shows on our laptops. Not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to have the option to select on the TV.
Context: I asked for a room with no scents as they can be a trigger for my migraines.nnThe first room they gave us smelled of urine, and not just a little bit like someone had a small accident, it was pungent like it had been stagnant for a day or two. My partner has a much less sensitive nose than I do and immediately smelled the urine upon entry to the room too. We immediately asked to switch rooms, the manager Ronny said that the smell was because of the cleaning products they used, and that it wasn’t urine. I re-affirmed that it smelt like urine, and wanted to switch rooms. He said “This room was specifically prepared with no scented cleaners just for you, so we did that *just* for you, the other rooms won’t be like that”, in a really snarky way. Mind you, we checked in maybe 20 minutes after the check in start time, so I feel like they would have had plenty of time to prepare another room if needed, especially since we had dinner reservations and had no problem waiting for a room to become available later in the evening. I asked if I could see another room to see if their regular method of prepping a room was doable for me or if it smelled too strongly. He begrudgingly agreed. The second room was perfectly fine. It didn’t smell like anything, we said it was fine and stuck with it. Honestly, we weren’t even upset about the first room smelling like urine. Like accidents happen, life happens, it’s not the end of the world. The problem is how I was treated by Ronny, the manager.nnOther things to note: There were no robes in the room, and it took them 45 minutes to send some up. The slippers in the room didn’t fit my partner and when I specifically asked for a men’s size 10 or 11 to be sent up, they sent us two pairs that were even smaller than the ones in the room. Valet was disorganized and took 2-3 tries for them to find the right car keys every time. The mattresses are really soft, and have little to no support. Killed my back.nnPositives: The room was clean, and it was quiet unless someone was in the hall. Gary, the afternoon/evening concierge was SPECTACULAR. Very proactive and lovely. The only real highlight of our stay.
I stayed here eight years ago and decided to come back since I enjoyed my stay last time. Nothing overly special, but the room was really nice and the hotel is in a central location to public transit, the waterfront, and pick up spots for tours.nnPron• View was nice for not being directly on the watern• Spaciousn• Two comfy chairs with small ottomansn• Bed was comfortable with extra blankets in the closetn• Chose to upgrade at check in due to a room being ready soonern• Concierge was very personable & did share good tipsnnConn• Door was thin and walls echo in the hallway so you could hear almost any conversationnnNeutraln• Offers room service starting at 7amn• Bidet on toiletn• It does have a convention room/meeting hall so you can find lots of people coming and going related
I had an absolutely amazing time with the hotel. The overall experience from check in to check out was so smooth . The view from my room was lovely. The location of hotel is perfect you are just a walk away from all the major attractions in downtown.nnKudos to the team for making my stay at Vancouver memorable.
