Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver

I recently stayed at The Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver during a business trip, and I was extremely disappointed with the overall experience. Given that this hotel markets itself as a five-star luxury property, I had certain expectations—none of which were met. From cleanliness to service, the hotel fell short in almost every aspect, making my stay far from enjoyable.nnUpon entering my room after a long day of work, I was immediately put off by the lack of cleanliness. The couch was covered in white debris that should have been vacuumed or dusted before any guest arrived. The office desk, where I had planned to get some work done, had visible oily residues, making it clear that it hadn’t been properly cleaned. Even worse, the side tables, light fixtures, alarm clock, switches, and the phone were all coated in thick layers of dust—something I wouldn’t expect from a basic hotel, let alone a high-end one. To top it off, the lampshade had noticeable stains, which was incredibly off-putting.nnHousekeeping was another major disappointment. I expected my room to be cleaned during the day while I was out at meetings, but it was never serviced unless I specifically requested it. After a long day of work, I would have appreciated coming back to a refreshed room, but instead, I returned to the same unmade space every evening. This is not the level of service I would expect from a five-star hotel.nnEven basic amenities were missing. A dental kit, which should have been readily available in a premium suite, had to be specially requested. Small details like this make all the difference, and it’s clear that this hotel doesn’t prioritize them.nnTo make matters worse, as a GOLD member, I was entitled to a free room upgrade—one of the key perks of my membership. However, my status was never acknowledged at check-in, nor at any point during my stay. Recognizing loyal guests is a fundamental part of quality hospitality, and this complete disregard made me feel unappreciated.nnEven outside of my room, the service was lacking. The doormen, who should be assisting guests, were often just standing around and not paying attention. I had to open the door for myself multiple times while staff loitered instead of assisting—something that reflects a lack of training or attention to service.nnOverall, The Sutton Place Hotel does not deserve its five-star rating. As someone who travels frequently for business, I rely on hotels to provide a clean, comfortable, and well-serviced environment. This property failed in every one of those aspects. If you’re a business traveler looking for a reliable and luxurious stay in Vancouver, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

The gym is closed until Feb 13, 2025 for renovation. The hotel will not provide weights in the rooms. Since I can't complete my physiotherapy my stay has been painful. The pool is chilly which is consistent with the reviews. The hotel is adequate. The location is convenient but noisy. There is a fire station located on a side street next to the hotel. There is also a grocery store next to the hotel which is convenient.

Such a nice hotel. Pretty room, with the comfiest bed that you sink into. Super nice bathroom/shower. Basic room yet we got a big couch and huge tv. Lots of space. The lobby is pretty, the pool is clean, a nice store for snacks and a Michelin restaurant. The location is the best in Vancouver too.

We can't recommend this hotel enough. We have stayed here over 20 times in the last 9 years or so, and only had one minor issue on one occasion which was promptly fixed. The staff here are very kind and helpful. The rooms are always clean and are setup well. The only feedback I have at this time is that the pool area is needing some attention with a refresh and deep cleaning. Otherwise we are very happy diamond members and will continue to stay here when we have reasons to be in the city. Thank you to the staff and specifically the door man Mark who is an absolute delight.

Big fan of Sutton Place so far, yet somewhat disappointed with the room.nnGot the double suite, which was very roomy and perfect for our needs. Biggest walk in closet ever in a hotel!nnThe on suite toilet was constantly blocked with very low pressure. Maintenance was quick to unblock but no sooner did they fix it…it was barely working.nnThe mold in the shower in the sinks was concerning, and very visible.nnThe desk chair was on its last legs, painful to sit in.nnThe staff was very cheerful and helpful.nnThe kitchen was well stocked and clean.nnBeds were comfortable.nnWe were missing a remote for one TV, so I feel housekeeping is not on the ball.nnThe pool was nice and the hot tub big enough for about 8 people comfortably.nnAmazing location close to great shopping and restaurants.nnIt was OK, but not as good as other Sutton Place properties.
