Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa

Best western plus, plus bugs? I didn’t ask for bugs???nnThis was absolutely disgusting. Didn’t even last 3 hours after check in before leaving. The building seemed nice as you come in but as you go there’s many small things you start to notice, the elevators and hallways smell and the lights everywhere were horrible and flickering. The room was decent until you go to the bed. Absolutely infested with bed bugs. Didn’t notice at the start but after 2 hours of sitting on the bed we realized and they were crawling all over under every pillow and blanket. We called the desk to tell them and they didn’t care, and asked if we wanted an upgrade. Why would anyone want an upgrade when the hotel is infested with bed bugs, a bigger bed won’t change the fact that there’s still bugs, and more crawling around in them! They refused to refund, which is absolutely horrible. They are honestly just asking for a lawsuit at this point lol unbelievable. The pool was also gross and unsanitary with lights out and flickering, same with the stairs. The basement + the gym also reeked of dust and mold and same with other parts of the hotel. Immediately left the hotel, won’t ever be coming back and wasn’t planning to. Not to mention after a 6 hour drive non stop, I thought i could rest but no! More drama. Ended up staying at another hotel in Ottawa and brought a bunch of bugs with me in my clothes and my hair. Not fun and wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless you enjoy insects and rude staff. I would rate it 0 starts if I could. Also manager somehow doesn’t exist and runs from his problems. If your staying here check your bed before even unpacking.

Came here on a Friday in the Easter long weekend and stayed for a day. After coming to this hotel, the parking was limited so had to park in the garage which was quite tight and a bit tough to park in. The rooms were good quite spacious with a TV, washroom, shower, 2 beds, a table and several lamps. In addition, there were traditional closets as well what you find in a typical Best Western Plus Hotel room. The lobby and main foyer were extremelynbusy since they had an event going on. Location was great and very close to Downtown Ottawa as it was only a 25 minute walk to Byward Market and 30 minute to Parliament Hill across the bridge. Very safe area and convenient for those wanting to go to Ottawa! Highly recommended

I wish I had better things to share about our 3 night experience at the Best Western Plus in Gatineau, but from start to finish, it was extremely disappointing.nWe booked a 2-room suite to accommodate our family of 4 while we were in town for a dance competition, all of the listed amenities were required for our stay and we were coming from 5+hrs away. Upon arriving to our room, we didn't have a microwave or coffee pods as listed and had to go downstairs to request one. Finding out microwaves are only available upon request. About 2hours later, a knock at the door with our microwave delivery, no coffee, to find out the electrical panel on the appliance was broken so every time we used it we had to hold it in place so it didn't fall off. I also discovered the coffee machine hadn't been emptied from who knows how many guests ago as there was still an old moldy pod still in the machine. Throughout of 3night/4days stay, we only had the trash bins emptied once, and had our dirty shower/pool towels removed but never replenished, also having to go down to request them. From all of our pool visits, we were only lucky enough to find 1 towel available at the pool as the front desk included at our last request that the shelves are empty because they probably didn't have any pool towels clean. You can imagine the wet mess this created daily in the hallways.nWe initially liked the accessible coffee /hot beverage machine available to guests in the lobby, until the coffee eventually started coming out like mud and was never maintenanced.nLastly, on our morning of checkout, as my husband had been coming and going packing up the car around 10a, so still an hour until check out the housekeeper must have noticed him coming and going and decided that was the right time for her to enter our room and start turning it for the next guest.. we still hadn't checked out but she had no intentions to leave and continued with her cleaning while the space was still ours.nOverall, this hotel has a lot of opportunities to work out. From the musky/moldy smells lingering in the hallways, cracks in the walls and ceilings, to the balconies with no actual access, and the lack of customer service from the main desk. We were quite disappointed with our stay, which seemed to be the common feeling among the 50+ people we traveled with.

TLDR: would I stay here again? No.nnI booked a room for one night. The room was very spacious, but the furniture couch and chairs was quite old and looked rather used. The pull out bed was also very old and uncomfortable. My guest could feel the springs all night. The regular bed was great. Comfortable and clean. I checked under the mattress after seeing some of the reviews here, and no problems there.nnThe bathrooms seemed renovated and they were very clean. They looked more modern than the rest of the room.nnThere were dead flies all along the windows. And another fly buzzing around the bathroom all night. It’s February, so to have that many flies is strange.nnHaving a good sized fridge and a microwave was a great addition. Lots of light in the room as well with a desk to work at. Lots of seating too.nnThe front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful.nnI did not use the pool or the gym.nnThe hallways are dark and narrow, you can tell it’s an older building.nnIt was not a bad experience for me, but my advice to the owner is to update the furniture and ensure all areas of the room are being cleaned windowsills with dead flies.

Room had an unpleasant smell to it. Possibly résiduel cleaning production odeur. We kept the bath fan on and went out for a few hours. It cleared up.nnStaff was excellent.nnThere was a group meeting there. People smoking by the entrance doors. That was really disgusting. One person who was leaving, started up their car and let it idle for five minutes right by the entry door under the awning. Nasty ICE car exhaust fumes.
