Mixed Feelings About My Stay at The Westin OttawannI recently stayed at The Westin Ottawa, and while there are some positives worth mentioning, there were also notable drawbacks. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, and you can't beat the location—right next to the Rideau Centre shopping mall and within walking distance to many of Ottawa's attractions.nnThe room was clean and generally well-appointed, which I appreciated. Upon check-in, I was told I received a complimentary room upgrade, though the room seemed standard to me.nnHowever, my main issue was the noise within the room, which significantly impacted my ability to rest. Starting from about 10:30 PM throughout the night, there was a continuous and very disturbing mechanical sound, perhaps from the plumbing or ventilation system, which made it difficult to sleep. Despite mentioning this to the reception, it seemed no immediate action was taken, and I found myself checking out early due to the discomfort.nnWhile the staff were polite and the hotel's amenities are top-notch, the lack of a peaceful night's sleep was a major downside. I'm leaving a three-star review because, while the hotel has a lot going for it, the primary purpose of a hotel stay is rest, and unfortunately, that was not fully possible during my visit.
Great spot in the very core of downtown Ottawa. We spent Christmas here and it was great. The Staff are amazing. The rooms can use a little maintenance, like changing dead bulbs and seeing to leaky fridges.nYou really can't beat the view...
Great location for tourism but the rooms are a bit dated which is now common with most Westin brands, excellent staff. The mall access from within the hotel is a great feature because the other entrances have a lot of suspicious characters outside.
Wonderful experience staying here for the night. Front desk staff are very helpful. I love how the hotel is connected to the Rideau centre! Great for a beautiful night in downtown Ottawa. I’ll be returning for sure!
During a recent stay at the Westin Ottawa, there were some unfortunate complications in the online booking for the room type we wanted. The manager Jessica was very understanding and worked hard to make things better. She and other hotel staff even went out of their way to make our son feel special for his birthday. Overall, a really great stay and we will be back for sure.
