Andaz Ottawa Byward Market-a concept by Hyatt

I was over the moon impressed! Lindsey greeted us pleasantly when we arrived and offered us an upgraded room right away because it was our anniversary. She then sent a bottle of ice wine, a kind card, and free drinks from the rooftop bar to our room. With a lovely view of the Parliament Buildings and the Byward Market, the room was tidy and cozy. This hotel's staff is exceptional! So considerate and friendly. We will most certainly be coming back.

We had a fantastic experience here. We celebrated an anniversary in Ottawa and The Andaz Hotel made us feel so special, surprising us with a free room upgrade, as well as wine and a dessert at the rooftop restaurant. Our room was clean, bright with big windows, a comfortable bed, and very spacious. The staff were welcoming and friendly every step of the way. And the location of the hotel is fantastic - walking distance to tons of restaurants and right in the heart of the Byward Market.

Good: Rooms are generally nice, clean and fairly spacious. The front desk is pleasant and attentive. The lounge bar, while nice, was lacking in terms of customer service, with an odd policy requiring parties of 6 or more to pay with only one card. Our waitress didn’t seem pleased when we challenged this, but admittedly accommodated us after some negotiation.nnBad: Unsurprisingly, the construction next door is incredibly disruptive. It starts at 0700 hrs on the dot and doesn’t finish until about 1700 hrs. They are currently jack hammering right under the hotel with big machinery and it’s loud and resonates throughout the whole hotel. And! They are blasting with dynamite, so be prepared for that! It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it’s such a problem that I feel their management needs to 1 ensure guests are aware of this prior to booking it was not and 2 start rolling out incentives like free nights. My three nights cost over $1400. Yowsers.nnGood luck.

The view is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking.nWe appreciated the nice rooms as well though the pillows were very flimsy.The rain shower head was really nice and lots of clean towels.nnThe valet service was a disappointment as we had to wait for over half an hour for the car to get moved into the parking lot. On the way out, we had to wait for quite a long time as well which seemed counterintuitive since there is plenty of free roadside parking nearby if you are staying over the weekend.nnLocation is great in the heart of the market.nGreat stay overall. Thank you.

Fantastic location for a visit to Ottawa and the rooms and hotel facility was great. The reason for the low rating was the 7AM-7PM construction occuring near the hotel with drilling that could be heard on the high floors and controlled explosions that jolt you awake despite using earplugs. This is outside the hotel's control and I feel bad for the staff that have to listen to this on the ground floor during their work shifts. However, the hotel slipped this into an email prior to the stay and for the price of the hotel and lack of notification to change accommodations or cancel is disappointing. Similar to other reviews, no mention of this was made prior to booking and really took away from the quality of the stay.
