My cousin and I love to take yearly trips to different locations and we really enjoyed our stay! The location was great for getting anywhere in the city. We were going to Ottawa for a concert and chose this location to stay. The hotel itself is beautiful with rich history. It was decorated for Christmas making it even more welcoming. The staff were Excellent! We especially loved our bartenders and waiters. Overall great experience that made us want to come back.
My husband and I had a very cozy weekend here to celebrate our anniversary. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. The breakfast croissants and homemade preserves were 10/10. Loved the view and the two bathrooms in or room, which was unexpected! Housekeeping was prompt to respond to any request. Our only complaint was the noise level in the rooms. You could hear everything from the corridor and from the adjoining room, but we put on some white noise and slept fine. Overall, we had a good stay and would definitely come back.
We are really disappointed with certain aspects of this hotel, especially considering its rated as a 5-star property.nnThe pool area was the biggest letdown. The tiles are stained, and the bottom of the pool looks discoloured as well. The water is also quite cold and could definitely be warmer for swimmers looking to actually enjoy the pool. For a 5 star hotel I was also expecting better wellness facilities.. the gym is quite small, and there’s no jacuzzi or hot tub option for relaxing after a swim which feels like a missed opportunity.nnThe rooms themselves are dated and the air flow is not great. The air conditioning doesn’t seem to work properly and the room felt musty likely from the older carpet. The air also felt very dry, which made the overall stay less comfortable than it should have been.nnOn a positive note, the service from the front desk was fantastic. They were always available if we needed anything and responded quickly when we asked for a fan, bringing it up to our room immediately. Their friendliness and responsiveness were definitely a highlight of our stay!!nnOverall, the staff were wonderful, but the facilities and room conditions really need an upgrade to match the hotels 5 star rating.
I recently enjoyed a two-night stay at the Chateau Laurier, and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff kindly accommodated my request for an early check-in, and my junior suite was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The pool was fantastic, and the Festive High Tea was a real highlight.nEach morning started perfectly with excellent coffee and fresh croissants from the hotel’s coffee shop. The staff were attentive and welcoming throughout my stay. The location couldn’t be better—just a five-minute walk to the ByWard Market, where there are plenty of amazing restaurants to explore.nThe holiday décor was stunning, featuring 44 beautifully decorated Christmas trees that created a magical atmosphere. Truly a memorable experience!
We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier this past weekend. It had been at least 5 years since last we stayed there, and I was very excited to stay at this beautiful historic hotel once again. It is still exceptionally beautiful, despite some evidence of aging decor. The valet and front desk staff were lovely. The beds and pillows are still as comfortable as I remember. The room was clean, though the bathroom was less clean than one would expect hair in the tub, and on the floor. The stay took a turn for the worse when we ordered room service for dinner. Apart from being way overpriced for the quality of food dry mac & cheese for my kid, salty risotto for me, about two hours after eating we both became violently ill and stayed ill throughout the night. We shared food, and felt excellent until that point, so we feel quite certain it was food poisoning. I called down the next morning to report this, hopeful to avoid anyone else having a similar experience. I was told someone would contact me for more details, but no one reached out at all. I am severely disappointed there was no follow up and see that as a result of an obvious lack of care. I don't expect we'll return the next time we're in Ottawa.
