Fairmont Château Laurier, Ottawa

Wonderful hotel! Super clean rooms, and the staff is very friendly! We stayed 4 nights, from Dec 25-30, and the Christmas decor was gorgeous. I was very impressed with how clean and well maintained the hotel was, given that it is a historic building. I've stayed at hotels that were 2x the price that were not as well maintained. We had a lovely holiday afternoon tea, felt a little under dressed in our jeans and sweaters, but we were treated very kindly. It was below freezing the entire time, and we walked everywhere - so we packed for warmth, not style. FYI, it's was super easy to get almost anywhere on foot from the hotel. Lots of great museums, restaurants, and shops!

My friend and I spent a night at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa on the weekend before Christmas, and as always, it was a magical experience. The Christmas decorations this year were absolutely stunning and added to the festive atmosphere.nnA special thank you to Phil, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. He went above and beyond by accommodating our early check-in before our brunch at the restaurant, making us feel right at home.nnWe thoroughly enjoyed our buffet brunch at Wilfrid’s and ended the day with delightful late-night cocktails at Zoe’s. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we can’t wait to return next year to celebrate the holidays again at this iconic hotel. Highly recommended!

The overall experience was great. The rooms are clean and up to date. Lobby and venue was excellent and well organized. Building and location is great for enjoying yourself in the hotel and exploring the city. The only complaint is parking. The parking was full and I waited in valet for over 30 minutes. I was two cars behind the last vehicle to get valet and nobody approached me to let me know it was now full... Someone had me move to let a car pass and at this point I didn't know it was full and they had the opportunity to let me know. I had to exit my vehicle with no way to back up more vehicles waiting behind me to ask for assistance to be told valet was full. At this point I was going to be running late for the event. I found parking off site but it would have been nice for someone to let me know once it was full so I didn't waste time and be late to my event. Other than that, the service desk and staff were helpful and friendly. One bar tender outside of the event cocktail hour was very rude to some of my coworkers for no reason. He went out of his way to harass and instigate him.

Charming hotel. Walking distance to Parliament, Rideau Canal, National Gallery and Byward Market. Very helpful hotel staff that seemed energized to help make your stay comfortable and easy.nEV charger is at the hotel, but note that it's on a first come first served basis. I was able to charge all night for the first two nights. But the last night they didn't put my car on the charger despite the fact that they guarantee that's the word the valet used only 4 hours. Also, beware of congestion when using valet and plan ahead accordingly. I was able to generally get my car quickly, but on departure it took almost 1.5 hours.

Pros: Just about everything. The epitome of modern elegance. Service was impeccable. From the ambiance when you walk into the hotel or your room, to the wonderfulness of the check-in to the deliciousness of the hot beverages in the cafe. Great night's sleep. Picturesque view. All perfectly on point.nCons: Difficult to find parking and the driveway in was chaos every time we went in. A $6.00 fee for room service seems excessive. $38.00 fries. eek.nnThe punchline: Would love to do it all again...just not order room service fries.
