Fairmont Château Laurier, Ottawa

Details matter. I was truly disappointed with this specific Fairmont. I will start with the bad.nnThe room feels very dated. Many items appear poorly repaired or in need of full replacement, and the shower water pressure is extremely low.nnThe valet service was the worst and rudest experience I have ever had at a hotel. I called ahead and was told the wait would be 40 minutes. I came down after 35 minutes, expecting another 10 to 15 minutes at most, and was then told it would be another hour. Thankfully I did not have a flight to catch. This was completely unacceptable. The valet staff were among the rudest I have encountered.nnThe food, which was breakfast only, was just okay. The salad was dressed with bottled Italian dressing, which was disappointing. The potatoes were very cold. The sourdough bread was excellent, but nothing else met expectations for the price point.nnThe swimming pool was too cold, and the hotel has no sauna or jacuzzi. Again, very limited amenities for what you are paying.nnNow the good. Staff in other areas were excellent, with the exception of valet. The restaurant wait staff were particularly helpful and professional. The view from our room was beautiful. The location is excellent, with great walking options nearby.nnOverall, I was very disappointed and would not confidently recommend this hotel.

My cousin and I love to take yearly trips to different locations and we really enjoyed our stay! The location was great for getting anywhere in the city. We were going to Ottawa for a concert and chose this location to stay. The hotel itself is beautiful with rich history. It was decorated for Christmas making it even more welcoming. The staff were Excellent! We especially loved our bartenders and waiters. Overall great experience that made us want to come back.

The room was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, with an incredibly comfortable bed and high-quality linens that made it hard to leave in the morning.nnThe hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays, adding a warm, festive touch that made the stay feel extra special. Its central location made getting around effortless, whether heading out for dining, shopping, or a simple stroll.nnWhat truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff, every single person was fantastic, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. A special thank-you to Claude, who consistently goes above and beyond to make guests feel cared for and at home. And of course, a major perk was meeting Stewart, the resident dog, who brought instant smiles and charm to the experience.nnThis hotel strikes the perfect balance between comfort, style, and hospitality. Highly recommend.

We are really disappointed with certain aspects of this hotel, especially considering its rated as a 5-star property.nnThe pool area was the biggest letdown. The tiles are stained, and the bottom of the pool looks discoloured as well. The water is also quite cold and could definitely be warmer for swimmers looking to actually enjoy the pool. For a 5 star hotel I was also expecting better wellness facilities.. the gym is quite small, and there’s no jacuzzi or hot tub option for relaxing after a swim which feels like a missed opportunity.nnThe rooms themselves are dated and the air flow is not great. The air conditioning doesn’t seem to work properly and the room felt musty likely from the older carpet. The air also felt very dry, which made the overall stay less comfortable than it should have been.nnOn a positive note, the service from the front desk was fantastic. They were always available if we needed anything and responded quickly when we asked for a fan, bringing it up to our room immediately. Their friendliness and responsiveness were definitely a highlight of our stay!!nnOverall, the staff were wonderful, but the facilities and room conditions really need an upgrade to match the hotels 5 star rating.

I recently enjoyed a two-night stay at the Chateau Laurier, and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff kindly accommodated my request for an early check-in, and my junior suite was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The pool was fantastic, and the Festive High Tea was a real highlight.nEach morning started perfectly with excellent coffee and fresh croissants from the hotel’s coffee shop. The staff were attentive and welcoming throughout my stay. The location couldn’t be better—just a five-minute walk to the ByWard Market, where there are plenty of amazing restaurants to explore.nThe holiday décor was stunning, featuring 44 beautifully decorated Christmas trees that created a magical atmosphere. Truly a memorable experience!
