Lord Elgin Hotel

Lord Elgin Hotel is terrific. The level of service is excellent! The employees you deal with are all lovely and very helpful. They do a great service to the hotel.nnYou really cannot get a better location unless you stay at the Office of the Prime Minister. You are close enough to be walkable to almost everything, yet you are not subjected to noise. Our room was delightful quiet and calm. The beds were comfy.nnThe rooms are spacious and nice. I would say they are getting close to the time to update the decor. It's all very nice and clean. It's just starting to show age with the actual decor choices, not the quality.

My mom and I were just there for 3 days. When you walked in, the ambience and the old look of the hotel was so cool and beautiful. The staff were phenomenal, especially the servers and bartenders at Restaurant, they went above and beyond to make it a great day and experience. And service was top notch!. We would just go down to see the same friendly awesome people! We felt very welcomed. And the food was amazing The brunch and Charcuterie Board Definitely one of the best places I've ever stayed! Thanks everyone there for making our experience perfect Andrea North Bay

The location of the Lord Elgin really can't be beaten. The hotel, however, is a little tired. We had a quiet room which we appreciated. And the elevators are very fast. The hotel bar/restaurant doesn't seem to know exactly what they're going for and could use a serious re-design. Ditch the sports bar are, get better lighting including some task lighting over the tables and it could be as busy as almost every other bar and restaurant steps away on the street. The food was good, but the place seemed forsaken even in a busy hotel.

I had one night in Ottawa this past July and am glad this was where I stayed. It's a very beautiful old hotel but the room was nicely modernized. My room was small, and possibly the smallest hotel bathroom I've ever seen, but for a solo traveler for one night, it was totally sufficient. Check in was a breeze, greeted with pure Canadian niceness. Valet parking worked great for arrival and departure. Tons of nice seating areas around the lobby for meeting up with folks. The location looks like it'd be really nice if you were in town longer and trying to see the sights of Ottawa. For the level of amenities and class and historical value of the building, I'd expect to pay tripple in most US cities. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location and friendly staff! The room was a bit small, but it served our purpose perfectly. We loved being within easy walking distance of the Rideau Canal and ByWard Market, with plenty of great restaurants nearby.nWe also used the parking garage across the street to save on parking costs. It was convenient, easily accessible, and reasonably priced.nOverall, a great location for exploring the area, with everything we needed close by.
