5/5 - Absolutely Exceptional Anniversary Stay!nnWe stayed at the Lord Elgin Hotel in Ottawa for two nights to celebrate our anniversary, and honestly, the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The team went above and beyond to make our stay special - they surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, a handwritten anniversary card such a sweet touch!, and even a complimentary cheesecake that completely made our day.nnThe staff was incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful at every step. You can really feel that they care about your experience. A huge shout-out to Amanda, who helped arrange our early check-in and explained everything so clearly. Due to last-minute travel changes, we arrived in Ottawa at 7 AM - I requested an early check-in, but I wasn’t expecting the room to actually be ready right at 7 AM. It was, and that gesture alone made our entire day smoother.nnThe location is unbeatable - just minutes from Parliament and right in the heart of downtown. Super convenient for walking around and exploring.nnOverall, we absolutely loved our stay and felt genuinely taken care of. I’d highly recommend the Lord Elgin to anyone visiting Ottawa. Big thanks to the entire team for making our anniversary trip so memorable!

The room was clean and comfortable, though the view wasn’t great — it looked straight onto another building. The coffee machine worked fine, but I personally would have preferred a kettle. There wasn’t any bottled water provided, but the room did have some thoughtful touches like soap, mouthwash, and even shoe polish, which was a nice surprise.nnHousekeeping came by later in the afternoon, but I didn’t have the room cleaned since the maid looked quite tired — I told her not to worry about it. She was polite and hardworking, and I appreciated her effort.nnThe pool area was great — clean, well-maintained, and a perfect way to relax. Overall, the location is fantastic, close to everything and very convenient. Not a perfect stay, but comfortable and pleasant enough for a short visit.

We travel often for weekend getaways to Ottawa when we have concerts or other events to attend. We have stayed at the Lord Elgin in the past but not for the last several years. On this trip no where on their website was it mentioned that the once beautiful lobby with a coffee shop and grand fireplace area where totally under construction. The staff was friendly but not overly helpful in my opinion. The room itself was ok, nothing special for this price range and seemed dated. We had a view of confederation park, but through windows that have seen better days. Amenities are what you would expect. One thing is if you want to have a better wifi experience you have to upgrade. Most other hotels in Ottawa or other cities I have stayed in do not do this. Bright spot was the service from the valet when we checked in, very helpful and friendly. When I enquired about the lobby construction and what would happen to the grand fireplace no one seemed to know. Sometimes improvements are not for the better. There are other options in Ottawa that offer more for the same price. Will return to those hotels rather than this one.

Stayed here 1 week for a conference. Excellent location, service and comfort. I am a terrible sleeper and slept like a log as the room is quiet, bed comfy and the air is not stuffy at all. The hotel restaurant is good, the amenities are more than decent gym, pool.nnMy only complaints: I requested a bathtub, but didn't get it. A microwave would also be nice, especially for longer stays. Oh well, you win some and lose some.nnI would stay again in a heat beat.

Very comfy bed with crisp linens. Clean room. Appreciated early check-in. Nice views and location. Mouthwash and makeup wipe a pleasant surprise. Great lavazza coffee machine. After all this, not sure why the toilet paper is 0.5 ply. Feel free to remove mouthwash and extras but get some normal toilet paper. This was worse than camping. Also construction so unsightly, can cover it up in a more aesthetically pleasing way.
