Days Inn - Ottawa

This hotel might be old, and maybe lacking some amenities but Maryann the guest services agent, more than makes up for what it is missing.nShe is always willing to listen and help in any way she can. She always has a smile and a kind word for everyone. Service like that is hard to find. She is the reason people keep returning.n

Location is a bit seedy, but close to everything for tourists. Large grocery store across the street and LCBO next door kept the mini fridge stocked. Our room was great! Everything VERY clean, in great condition, no funky smells. We were on the second floor and everything was quiet. There was a long walk from the elevator to our room and the carpet could use some replacing though, not a great first impression on the way to a great room.nThere is no breakfast, there is a washer and dryer, and their is a gym but we didn't visit.

There were like 4 groups of homeless people in every corner surrounding the street and just outside the hotel's doors.nAbout the rooms, well, they gave us a room with no electricity so we had to ask for another room and also there was a problem with the wifi... they fixed until the next day.nThe staff at the front desk were kind.

We stayed for a night and had no issues with the location or the condition of the room. Very pleasant experience. Realized there was an unknown charge and called to clear it up. Mary Anne was extremely helpful and kind. She resolved the issue with grace and efficiency. Extremely pleased with the level of customer service I received over the phone and will definitely be coming back after my next stay in Ottawa. Thank you!

I usually book my friends, who come and visit me from out of town in this hotel. It is right around the corner from where I live so it’s convenient. Today when I called to find out a few details, the receptionist who answered was incredibly rude with me. She literally hung up the phone on me, treating me like a stupid person asking stupid questions. She was so unprofessional and rude that I will never book at this hotel again. But to be honest, I’ve lived in this area for 25 years and in the last four years, the area has become unsafe, filthy and full of drug and alcohol addicts and homeless people. The hotel is on Rideau Street so it is particularly bad at the entrance. Homeless people are setting up camp right beside the hotel. In addition, the street itself is filthy and trashy. This is not something I would want my tourist friends to see.
