Really enjoyed doing share plates with friends at this restaurant. I think because it was a weeknight Wednesday, street parking wasn’t as difficult. Even on a Wednesday night, we were glad we had a reservation as it was quite busy. The vibes are great if you’re at a group dinner but probably a bit loud if on a date or intimate gathering.nnOverall - the food was worth the prices - for example, the bluefin tuna pressed sushi was pricier but it was really well prepared and high quality.nnAlso - I need to note how pleasantly surprised I was by the desserts. Often when the mains are impressive, the dessert can be underwhelming - but not the case here. The desserts were really delicious - not too sweet with excellent flavour pairings.nnWill definite come again.
Kitsilano takes the distinction of having a number of high-end and incredibly trendy Japanese restaurants. New Fuji slots right into this scene, and delivers all the crowd-pleaser recipes with their own twist that will wow your palate.nnAesthetically, the teal backdrop lighting over a high ceiling, and a thoughtful array of 80s/90s retro pop culture items on display melds an experience at a restaurant to a visit to a museum. The distinctly Japanese service culture was the bow that tied all this together. It was absolutely unforgettable stuff.nnWe kicked off our evening with cold sake and their signature Bluefin Nigitoro Pressed Sushi. The sushi was beautifully presented and was a flavour explosion of soft briny fish, crunchy garlic, refreshing chives and warm rice. The Wagyu Uni Chirashi was an ingenious combination of smoky meat, sweet omelette and a rich, creamy mixture of sea urchin and fish eggs. Our other main was the Abalone Kamameshi Rice, which was packed with umami punch and a joy to stir in the pot before stuffing the fragrant goodness into our mouths. For desserts, we tried a classic Crème Brûlée and one a bit off the beaten track a Mochi cake, and were impressed with the execution in both.nnMy wife and I count ourselves lucky because we snuck into a busy dinner shift without a reservation and secured seats at the bar area in about 10 minutes time. If you are in the market for a great time, lock down your reservation to avoid disappointment!
I came here for my birthday, and I love the ambiance of the decor of the restaurant. I ordered the corn Karaage, the tuna Tataki, rbi mayo, chicken Karage, udon, scallop and the lettuce wrapped pork belly.nnThe grilled scallop was cold and was not cooked well when I got it. I think the food was good but overall I think it was over seasoned and too sauces.nnThe corn karage and the pressed sushi’s were my fav.nnOverall the food was good and I would comenAgain to try the lunch.nnBecause it was my birthday, they gave me anComplimentary dessert with my name which was super thoughtful.nnWe were there at 4:30 and it was alreadynJam packed.
One of my all-time favourite restaurants in Vancouver! Amazing quality of food and heartwarming and attentive service every single time I’ve dined here or gotten take out since they opened in 2023. The consistency is phenomenal, and I love how cheerful the staff are - they really take pride in what they do and it shows. One of my go-to places to bring friends and family, and everyone loves it here! 10/10 highly recommend! Don’t forget to visit New Fuji during your birthday to get a free strawberry sorbet and sparkler to celebrate your special day - it’ll surely create beautiful memories for you and your loved ones.
My husband and I went to new Fuji after a friend recommended it and it did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the flavours.nnWe also enjoyed the ambience with the eclectic/vintage decor.nnWe can’t wait to dine here again
