Wonderful brunch spot with exceptional service! Bummer they don't open til 9, no surprise there was a long line waiting to get in when we walked up at 8:55. Awesome indoor and, especially, outdoor seating areas - outdoor area is well-designed to minimize cold and wind while you still get the outdoor-dining experience. Jitterbug and Maxine's Shaft Slushie are both incredible and delicious cocktails, masterfully balanced and perfect for brunch. Savory Dutch Baby is very solid, loved the eggy base and flavorful back bacon, sunny side egg, and especially Gruyere sauce mornay; as is often the case with Dutch Babies, base is somewhat dominating, might benefit from some extra toppings and/or sauce, although then it would be an even more massive amount of food! Tiramisu Croissant French Toast is a masterful dish in every way, a must-try for any coffee, tiramisu, or French toast fan. A massive slice accompanied by ample whipped marscapone topping and coffee syrup, it manages to avoid the trap of thick French toast by being ideally dense and cooked in the middle, averting being just dry bread or uncooked mush, while also being pleasantly crispy on the outside - an overall outstanding flavorful and textural experience. Side of bacon is as good as you could expect, and thick layer of Dalgona coffee foam atop the His Dudeness was excellent if just a little bitter. Dirty Chai Latte was tasty and beautiful as well, and then the Maxine's Moon Pie is another fantastic must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth - best snickerdoodle cookies you've ever had, immaculately enhanced by caramel and dark chocolate! Easily one of the best brunch spots in Vancouver, a must-visit for any foodie in the city!

celebrated a belated birthday brunch at maxine’s cafe and bar and it was such a great pick.nnthe space has a cozy parisian bistro feel, with warm wood, soft lighting, vintage details, and old school music that makes everything feel relaxed and inviting.nnservice really stood out. the team was welcoming and accommodating, happily moving us from a stuffy back table without any fuss. such a nice touch too, there was a handwritten birthday card waiting at the table, which made the whole experience feel extra thoughtful.nnthe mushroom rosti was a highlight, rich, earthy, and super satisfying with perfectly poached eggs.nnonly downside, my latte was likely made with regular milk instead of oat, and i definitely felt it later.nnoverall, a fun and memorable brunch spot with great vibes. would absolutely come back.

This place was a very cute restaurant. The food was amazing!!! I had the salmon eggs Benedict with sour dough bread with some hash browns. The eggs I asked for over easy and it was cooked to perfection! My friend had the salmon Rotsi which was similar to what I had but the hashbrown was bigger with a dill cream sauce garnished with capers and fresh dill….. both our dishes were “Chefs Kiss”!!! She asked for her eggs over medium and she can say it was the best she’s ever had! The dishes were very fresh, like farm to table!! and it had the right balance! Wasn’t salty or greasy, the salmon was perfect and the eggs were definitely cage free eggs. We were very lucky to get a seat for Sunday brunch without reservations!!!

Delicious food! Some of our dishes were really really good. The food is great but some dishes have small portions. I personally think some dishes are overpriced for the quality and size of food. They plate nicely and have splendid service. Our server was so cute and friendly, she made my Dads birthday brunch special for him! It was sweet. I do recommend trying this place out for sure.

the hardwood burger at maxine’s is SENSATIONAL — i’d even say it’s on par with the one at per se social corner ! the entire thing is just so juicy and cheesy the raclette was IMMACULATEEEE and dressed in this amazing sauce that i can’t even desCRIBE, but the flavour was just incredibly rich and delicious. the egg was fried to give crispy edges, and the entire burger was elevated by a combination of sweet, flavourful caramelized onions and crispy onions. the fries were also super good, crispy and not too oily or greasy.nnanother highlight for me was the moon pie. although it was very simple — two thick, chewy cookies with sweet caramel-y fudge sandwiched in between — i thought it was a nice sweet treat.nnthe tiramisu french toast really surprised me because the cream topping wasn’t sweet at all, it was very lemon-y and a bit salty, which was really unique. the toast itself was reallyyyyy good, the edges were very crispy and just a tad burnt, the bread was really soft and eggy and moist and had very buttery layers kind of like a croissant. the coffee/espresso taste was very faint though.nnthe croque madame and reuben rosti were yummy, but didn’t really stand out to me as much as the burger. the egg on the croque madame was just a tad too overpowering for me, but i really liked the arugula it came with ! both dishes had a good amount of flavourful pastrami/brisket though as well !nnthe slushie coffee thing was also VERY good but it was way too expensive for such an itty bitty cup
