Went for a paper work and i got all the work done smoothly. Appreciate the service provided by Bangladesh High Commission. Everyone was very helpful and informative. Complete the work at the shortest possible time...Rooms: 5/5
Nice hotel, great location. Staff are very courteous and attentive. The rooms are spacious and nice but they definitely show their age. The rooms with balconies are horribly loud all night since they face directly onto the road so I would avoid them if possible. The doors to the balcony block out no sound from the busses that seem to run all night long. The Cafe downstairs is nice enough, good for a quick breakfast and coffee but nothing to wow any diners.
The sum of all the reviews I read were a better reflection of the experience than I expected. The hotel was overall good. It provided everything I could gave expected for the price and location. Nothing exceptional from the hospitality side of the overnight team, bit a true sense of hospitality rang loud and clear from any and every interaction of the day time staff and management, from email correspondence with management, to front desk, to staff I passed in the hallway. Great location! Not in a room with an opportune view, but such a prime location to government and financial buildings, sightseeing, shopping, and dining.
Great, spacious room and good, thick mattresses, but the reception staff could be a little warmer. The bathroom could be cleaner, and hot and cold water was switched. You only get the 10% off breakfast if you ask reception for a voucher beforehand. Parking is free all weekend at the World Exchange Plaza opposite the hotel otherwise the hotel takes $20/night. Overall, still a good place to stay at a great location.
Pros: * Location is absolutely amazing. Close to food and many touristic attractions. * Spacious rooms overall 2 queens room. * Beds are decently comfortable. * Kitchenette is decent and well furnished. Mini-Fridge is a great addition. * AC unit can be set to "low", which is fairly silent unlike the "high" setting. Cons: * Rates differ between weekdays and weekends even on a per-weekday basis!. The website will give the average per night, not a breakdown of the actual per-night cost. * Housekeeping was hit and very miss; generally took the handsoap we used but never replaced it, beds were either perfectly made or generally just thrown together, etc. * Everything about the bathroom is small; the size of the bathroom, the size of the bath and shower, the size of the towels, the size of the sink, etc... * Website says they have a weekly parking rate 125$, but we were charge on a per-day basis for our stay 148$ total. * Even though we came in with a registered guide dog, we were charged the one-time pet fee 20$. First hotel to ever do that in all of our previous stays in numerous locations and chains. Front desk rep couldn't tell us if this was normal policy or not. * Door closing mechanisms slams all doors shut instead of buffering their closure. Be ready to hear doors closing loudly at all times of the day and night.
City in walking distance, friendly and always helpful staff at any hour, clean and spacious hotel rooms for a local owned and operated hotel. Bathrooms are small but equipped with all the basics however the wardrobe could have been bigger compared the rest of the room. Breakfast available at the hotel, didn't get a chance to taste but was told it was delicious : Definitely recommend !
If for no other reason than customer service...they are amazing. From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel very important. Our room was clean, tidy and the beds are so very comfortable. We slept so soundly, no noise from outside either. I certainly don't see why there are so many complaints on these reviews. We still have another night here but I would love to stay another few nights. Thank you Capitol Hill Suites for making us feel important and catering to our every need. I will definitely stay here again...with pleasure! Blessings, ~Honour
Older hotel, not fancy but clean and the room was ready and stocked with the necessary items for a short stay. Our room had no refrigerator some rooms do have them but not all. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Disappointing that the very nice restaurant /cafe has excellent food and atmosphere but only does breakfast and lunch and closes at 2:00 pm. It was very central and within walking distance of many things. We would stay here again.
Pros...The location is great for exploring the downtown area. My bed was comfortable and the pillows had different comfort levels. Cons...the room itself left something to be desired. The bathroom needs major work, the sink was cracked in several places. There was no fan. The shower controls were extremely difficult to regulate. It was very definite that it was an older building, in need of a major facelift. Parking was off site and expensive. I think I definitely overpaid for the quality I received.
Great location, but otherwise not worth what you pay for at all. Rooms are small and not as advertised. Entire hotel including the rooms smell very old and dirty. Windows don't open so you can't air out the dirty old scent of the hotel. Poor air circulation, no ventilation. There is AC provided but again doesn't help with the musty smell and dust. The WiFi works about 20% of the time. The "Business centre" is two old computers in a dingy room near reception. The "Fitness centre" is two treadmills on the second floor in an empty hotel room... it looks and feels very creepy. It's close to public transportation and main attractions but it is definitely not worth what you pay for. I highly recommend a different hotel, this one completely ruined my stay in Ottawa.
