Samesun Vancouver

Great place to stay. Amazing staff, lovely people. The bar and the free tours every day are fun and a great way to meet people. The included breakfast is above average for a hostel. Kinda pricey and and the front-facing rooms can be pretty noisy, because of Granville St. If you get a back-facing room it's probably better.

Location is good and overall it's a pretty decent hostel. I wish the rooms had bigger space between beds. Breakfast is okay - there's always something missing either oat milk or fruits or salt n pepper, I can see staff is working their hardest, there should be more people working. Luggage storage is confusing - it's only free if you're staying at the hostel, if you want to checkout and leave it there for a few days you gotta pay $5 per day per storage locker. There's lots of stairs. I wish there where some open space and quiet rooms. I wouldn't suggest as a good hostel to work from as there's not quiet spaces and people are loud. Rooms get quite noise as well, bring earplugs! The guided tours are amazing tho - I highly recommend it. Quality varies from Samesun to Samesun, it's always good to check.

This is a GREAT hostel. Yes, it’s simplistic and a bit basic in terms of decor BUT we had a double room to ourselves. Shared showers which were really good quality and plenty of them and a fabulous included breakfast - tasty and filling. Good extras - they run trips and have luggage storage. Also a really nice bar with good beer. Friendly, helpful staff. Great downtown location.

Great people, fun set-up. This was the most affordable spot for us and we’re glad we found this. The facility is quite tidy! The washrooms, kitchen, and common areas were all clean. We attended an organized hike to Lynn Canyon with Andy & Donny as our leaders; they were very attentive and fun to be around! These activities organized through the hostel are a great way to meet others from around the world!

For the price, the room was more than adequate! I got a private room with a double bed which was comfortable and clean. The shared bathrooms were kept clean and were attended to by staff regularly. You can definitely hear a lot of noise from the street, but I didn't find it to be overwhelming and it didn't impact my ability to sleep. There is AC in the common areas which was lovely during the summer heat. The common room and kitchen are very nice and I enjoyed spending time there in the evenings. The hostel is right in the middle of downtown, walking distance to Stanley Park and Gastown if you're in decent shape. Tons of restaurants and shopping nearby. All the staff were completely lovely and professional. If you're just looking for a place to rest your head and grab a shower after a day of exploring, this is a great choice.

Solid hostel that was clean and safe. There is a fair bit of noise from the street if you needed to keep your window open and some light from the door. Worth having earplugs and an eye mask. Those caveats aside this was a nice place to stay. Good atmosphere, clean facilities, nice set up with private bathrooms, reasonable breakfast. Very good value for Vancouver

The Samesun Vancouver is a great place to stay! Relatively easy walking access from the nearest train station depending on how many bags you’ve got. The rooms are clean, bathrooms are excellent, showers had soap, shampoo and conditioner. Connected bar is a cool place, easy to grab a drink or two and meet some people. Breakfast is basic but really good bagels and toast and it’s free! What astounded me was the free tours with a tour guide, I had Donny and he was great! Would definitely recommend the samesun and would go again

Excellent hostel in the middle of downtown Vancouver! I wish we had more places like this for backpackers and solo travelers. Check-in is prompt and very straightforward. My room had 4 beds and 4 big lockers. Perfect for my backpack, I sometimes have trouble fitting everything in regular sized lockers in other places. They offer tours and little excursions for guests! Breakfast available at certain times in the morning. Full equipped kitchen, fridges, freezers, silverware and common use pans /silverware. Community bathrooms were very clean. Study rooms, outdoor patio and common areas available. The bar downstairs is a big plus! They serve local beer and I was all about it. I would definitely recommend Samesun if you're staying in Vancouver! I'll definitely book with them again if I end up going back.

Breakfast was yummy and plentiful! I loved that they have guided activities available each day of the week, too. The location relative to things to see and transportation was excellent! Unfortunately, it's also on a street that never sleeps, which means it's noisy at least if you have one of the front rooms -- definitely bring earplugs! The facilities, though, were excellent. Rather than having each individual room have a shared bathroom/shower, the whole floor shared individual toilets and showers with solid walls and locking doors. I much preferred this arrangement! They also provided shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the showers. The biggest annoyance about the hostel itself was the extremely weak WiFi signal in the front rooms on the upper floors. In the lounges and the lobby, and even in front of the hostel on the street, the signal was fine.

I stayed in a 4-bed female form with my partner for 4 nights here. The hostel itself is the tiniest bit run down or 'used', but it absolutely aces all the basics. Everything is clean, toilets are regularly attended and easy to get to. Key cards throughout. Nice common room and a big easy kitchen with lots of equipment. Free breakfast every morning, eggs, bagels, spreads, some fruit. Coffee etc. 24hr reception too and a cosy bar built in. The beds were actually very comfortable and I would stay here again! At the end of the day, it's almost always fully booked and it's a busy hostel. But it's well managed and enables you to either make friends or remain independent. We had a good stay! Rooms: Beds a little creaky, place a little run down but everything clean no spiders!! and in working order. Nearby activities: Downtown right next to all the busses and the Canada line. Easy access to everything to be honest. We did Capilano and grouse from here. Walked to Stanley Park aswell. Shopping mall close by. Safety: A lot of... Strange people on this street. They are harmless and go about doing their thing but it's a very New York vibe. Either way it's no bother. Walkability: Great Food & drinks: Fast food outlets everywhere on this street
