Came here tonight to get some documents printed on cardstock couldn’t use the automated machines for that so I had to wait in line. Between the package shipping area, and the print shop, there was only one employee working Madison. Both counters had lines of 5-10 people EACH, and she was running back and forth to help the customers at both stations. It was clearly peak time when I came in, just before 7pm. Meanwhile, 2 other employees and a general manager stood idly by. There were no other customers in line at the main tills. In fact, aside from the shipping and print shop, the store was practically empty. I waited here for a very long time - listening to Madison call out for help to fellow employees - only to be ignored. It is shocking to me that a manager would have only one employee scheduled to work what is arguably the busiest spot in the store. And would allow her to continue radioing for help, while all the customers can see the manager doing NOTHING. Madison was friendly and helpful, though clearly under pressure in a situation where any employee would be frustrated. I’m not sure what these other employees / manager are thinking. Your customers don’t want to wait in line for an hour, watching you sit around and chat with each other while ONE employee deals with all 20+ customers. I am writing this review while I stand in line, as Madison triages customers. If she weren’t so genuinely helpful I would have left already and taken my business elsewhere. Truly disappointing to see a company take advantage of a hard working young woman in this way. For the record, if it weren’t for Madison you’d be getting zero stars, Staples.
Absolutely terrible customer service at the shipping section. See me standing in line waiting and the employees are chatting amongst themselves before one of them comes at a snail’s pace. Told me I was unable to return my packages as they have the same shipping label. My order was split in 2 packages because it was too large for one package and so hence there being two packages with the same return label. Employee responded with an attitude and let me know it has to be in 1 package or they cannot accept it. Of course, so staples can make more money at selling me a larger box. Absolutely ridiculous. What makes this even better is the fact that I have had no issues doing this in the past but now apparently it is not accepted. Customer service nowadays is non-existent.
Even though I live in South Edmonton, the Staples in West Edmonton is hands-down my go-to store and today was another reminder why.nI recently bought a pair of Beats Solo Buds from this location, based on a sales rep’s recommendation. Unfortunately, I later discovered they didn’t have noise cancelling and the case wasn’t battery-equipped. Two features I was specifically looking for. Since Staples doesn’t allow returns on opened electronics, I didn’t expect much when I came in to ask about an exchange. But I figured it was worth a try.nTo my surprise, the staffs went above and beyond. The employee I spoke with listened carefully and then called the manager, who completely understood my frustration. He made an exception and let me exchange the Beats for a pair of Sony WF-C700s that actually met my needs. That kind of understanding and flexibility is rare these days, and it’s exactly why I keep coming back to this location.nnAlso, check out their mobile deals! I got a $50 gift card today just for switching to a bell provider with better data and speed. Totally worth the trip every time.
Your employee at the printing service was extremely unhelpful. The self-serve machine would not let me open my document, so I had no choice but to go to the counter for assistance. Three different staff members gave me three completely different answers: one said they could help me print, another said they couldn’t, and the third told me it would cost $400 to print 380 pages.nnI’m not sure which information is correct, but the inconsistency and lack of support made the experience very frustrating. Clear communication and consistent guidance would be greatly appreciated.
In August, I went into Staples to purchase a computer and was talked into upgrading my phones instead. The salesperson asked what I was paying per month $319 for 4 phones and said that was “crazy”, promising he could bring my bill down. He said he was a Bell representative and asked if I had a business.nnHe then switched my personal Bell account which I’d had for nearly 18 years into a business account, assuring me my monthly bill would drop to around $270. That sounded reasonable, so I agreed.nnBig mistake!nnWhat I wasn’t told about were the activation fees, migration fees, and upgrade fees, all of which showed up on my bill later. Once my account was switched, my long-standing personal account was permanently closed, and I was treated as a brand-new customer with none of my prior loyalty benefits.nnTo make things worse, as I was walking out the door, the salesperson said, “If Bell tries to charge you $75 per phone, just call them.” That should have been my red flag — I had just been scammed.nnWhen I contacted Bell, they confirmed they wouldn’t waive any of the fees and even apologized that the Staples salesperson hadn’t been upfront. Unfortunately, there’s nothing they can do.nnI’m out of pocket, frustrated, and completely disappointed. I trusted the salesperson and clearly shouldn’t have. Makes me wonder what kind of kickbacks these reps get for misleading customers.nnLesson learned: READ EVERYTHING YOU SIGN and don’t let anyone pressure you into changes you don’t fully understand. DO NOT fall for this trap.
