In person, the chairs in the emergency waiting area looked absolutely unsanitary stained, worn down, and honestly biohazard-level. There was also garbage left around. I understand hospitals can get busy, but I expected basic cleanliness and hygiene, especially in a medical setting.nnI also want to mention an experience we had while trying to find the washroom near the emergency area before X-rays. My partner and I politely asked a group of staff at the desk, “Excuse me, do you know where the washroom is?” they were all sitting and chatting, but every single one avoided eye contact and completely ignored us. We weren’t asking for anything serious, just a simple direction, and there was no visible signage to help. The dismissiveness felt unnecessary and rude.nnAs for the medical care Dr. Jordan Ho was initially a bit curt and robotic in his communication, which can come off cold, especially in a stressful ER environment. However, once we spoke more with him, he actually turned out to be very kind, informative, and helpful. I think a slightly warmer approach would help ease patients in tense situations, but he was clearly competent and did a good job. The resident doctor working with him I unfortunately didn’t catch her name was extremely polite, compassionate, and thoughtful. She had a slight accent and may have been Middle Eastern, she made us feel more comfortable during the process.nnSurprisingly, the ER wasn’t very busy when we went, and the wait time was reasonable overall.
This hospital used to have an excellent reputation with compassionate and reliable ER doctors who truly cared for their patients. Unfortunately, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed. After filing a formal complaint about an ER doctor—one that went absolutely nowhere—I have lost all confidence that patient care is a real priority here anymore.nIf you have the option, I strongly recommend seeking care at North York General or Sunnybrook instead, where patient well-being seems to remain at the center of their values.
I was so nervous, but the staff's compassion and efficiency at Toronto Western Hospital's Endoscopy Unit on the 4th floor completely eased my fears. I didn't want to be there, who does? but their warmth made me feel safe. The team's organization was impressive-everything ran smoothly, from check-in to recovery. Every nurse and doctor worked tirelessly, their care shining through in every detail. I'd name them all, but I'm afraid I'd miss someone. This unit is a well-oiled machine, turning a tough moment into one of trust. Thank you for your kindness!nnMike
Had been at the hospital with my 97 year old dad. He required a pacemaker which the TGH site performed the operation. My dad was the transferred to TWH. Care was good nurses and everyone who checked in on him. Where the hospital fail us was at discharge. Social worker discussed the needs and put in the referral. It was a Friday discharge I was concerned about getting the home care set up for Saturday but was assured all was set up. Well, for a Hospital that prides itself on the circle of care this is were the wheels fall off. This 97 year old man is home bound and almost had a fall in the evening. But the hospital felt it's best he goes home! If the hospital prides itself on exemplary care. That hospital should ensure whatever supports it passes that patient to will continue that care. UHN failed. As the Homecare provider did not schedule the homecare as discussed and has a policy to take the patient to a clinic for wound care!!!! That's not home care. Hello!nAll around disappointed in our healthcare. So much bureaucracy and patients are pretty much thrown to the curb!nP.S. got to wait until Monday to arrange home care.n911 on speed dial. I'm sure we will be back. That's how the system is designed.
I thought this hospital was a good hospital but I was wrong. My dad went into this hospital with a hard lump in his stomach near the bellybutton they did x-ray, ultrasound & MRI and the only thing that they told him was, it was scar tissue. Well, they sent him home with no meds and he was in constant pain until he couldn’t take it anymore so we decided to send him to Mount Sinai wow Mount Sinai great hospital!!! They told him that his problem was because of the bladder he had a bladder infection, and that was causing the pain in the stomach. Now why couldn’t Toronto Western Hospital figure that out? You know why because they are absolutely terrible. Please people do not send your family members here go to Mount Sinai. They are a much better hospital!
