Two days ago, my husband was admitted to Humber River Hospital for an appendectomy, and we had an excellent experience. The doctors, nurses, and staff were all incredibly helpful, professional, and compassionate throughout his stay. They ensured he was well taken care of and made the whole process as smooth as possible.nnThe facility itself is modern, clean, and well-organized, which added to our comfort during this stressful time. We truly appreciate the outstanding care my husband received and are grateful for the dedicated healthcare team at Humber River Hospital. Thank you for your excellent service!
nI delivered my first baby at this hospital and had such a positive experience! All the staff on the maternity ward were amazing starting from the time we were admitted. The birthing room was very large, clean and comfortable. I love that the rooms are all private, made the stay far more comfortable.nnOBGYN Dr TSE delivered my baby, his years of experience helped me avoid a c section! The Anesthetist who administered my epidural unfortunately I can’t recall his name was also outstanding, he had the best bed side manners eased my nerves through the entire process and the epidural was the quickest and most painless experience.nnAll the nurses were great too, especially the ones we had assigned post birth. They were some of the sweetest woman I have ever met and were really dedicated to their job and administering the best care to these babies. Baby needed some ultrasounds and the nurses stayed on top of it to ensure we had everything done prior to discharge. The lactation consultant was also great and her class and room visit were much appreciated.nnThank you Humber River team for making my birthing experience positive and one to always remember!!!
I had the chance to work privately in a client at Humber River 12W and the Nurse on duty named Humaira has exceptional compassionate approach, she took time to listen to my concerns, no matter how small, and she addressed each one with genuine care. She even communicated my concerns to the doctor with much precision, she did not shrugged off my questions or dismissed any concerns. Instead, she provided clear explanations and reassurance, which made me feel grateful for her exceptional service. Thank you so much!
I accompanied my mom to her medical imaging appointment and was surprised at how spacious and modern the hospital was first time going to Humber River.nnWe were early so I wandered downstairs to the cafeteria. Lots of seating and there was even a microwave. However, I did notice that the lower level/food area smelled smokey from all the businesses that cooked food. Better ventilation could be installed.nnI saw a number of volunteers at Humber and they all seemed to be very happy and ready to assist.nnMy mother and I arrived 15 mins early to check in with reception and despite the fact that I had filled out a form with my mom's personal information name, date of birth, address, the receptionist still went through asking the same questions. However, even after my mom verbally told her the information, the receptionist didn't get the information correct and my mom had to correct her 2-3 times.nnWe waited a long time in the waiting room and saw many people sign up with reception but when they called a cluster of us into the changing room, we noticed that a number of people who had arrived after us had been called before my mom.nnAfter changing into hospital gowns, it was more waiting. After 1.5 hrs past my mom's appointment time, my mom told the nurse that she had been there a long time and there were people being called who had arrived later than us mom even showed the appointment time on her paper. The staff member said that they call people in by the order that they get from reception. We suspected that since my mom came early, her file was first/at the bottom and other people who came later had their files placed on top of hers and that they were calling people by order of the top of the pile.nnMy mom had internal imaging done. She said it was a bit painful. I found it odd because when I had the same procedure done at Mount Sinai, it was painless. I asked if there had been lubrication provided and she said no at Mount Sinai, i had lubrication. I'm a bit shocked that a numbing lube was not an option.nnWhile I've met the doctor that did the procedure and believe that she is competent and caring, I feel like receptionist procedures and considerations for patient comfort should be improved upon at Humber River. At the very least, reception should be ensuring that patients are seen in the order that they arrive.nnNot a great experience at Humber. If given a choice, I'd opt for another hospital.
My elderly mother with dementia was admitted to this hospital via the Emergency department. She was seen relatively quickly by a Doctor in the Emergency area and attending nurses. Then after addressing her immediate issues she was moved overnight to ICU and ultimately the cardiac floor. She was on this floor for a number of days and is now being discharged today. I can only say that I was very pleased with the care and service she was provided at this hospital. The nurses were all excellent and friendly and willing to answer any of my questions. The halls and rooms were clean and everything in the room worked including the included TV service. The meals were served on time the food was standard hospital food but could be custom ordered on a screen. The rooms were spacious and thoughtful to accommodate visitors etc. It was a huge refreshing change from my experience dealing with another elderly parent at a much older hospital in the west end of downtown Toronto.
