I was pleasantly surprised recently had 2 visits at the hospital, once in emergency and one time with day surgery. Both time the nurses were exceptionally attentive, kind and willing to listen. They made me feel like I was being heard and all my questions answered. At the day surgery all the nurses were attentive, patient with my repetitive questions. What I really liked they always used my first name in all conversations.
Worst experience ever!! A place I never want to go back to. I took my three-year-old daughter to see a doctor. We waited for nearly 4 hours. After a long time, we were called. As a result, a doctor assistant named Liu disappeared after seeing the doctor!! I waited for nearly two hours again. I asked the front desk staff where the doctor went!! The front desk staff said they didn’t know. I said our child was very hungry and wanted to go home, and was very sleepy. She said let us wait here. I asked how long to wait, and she didn’t know. Oh my God!! The attitude is very bad! In the end, she printed out a piece of paper angrily and asked us to sign it. She said that if we go home, we have to sign it. In the end, we didn’t wait for the doctor to return. A lady with a hairpin on her head at the front desk spoke badly. If you choose this profession, you must be patient and competent for it. If you don’t have empathy and sympathy, then you can get out of the medical profession!! She also said that she was very busy. It was obvious that she was just sitting in front of the computer and chatting with colleagues! If you have a choice, you won’t get a single star!
Overall a ok hospital with most of the functions and testing capabilities.nIf the management want to make this hospital better, 2 outstanding things need to change from a patient perspective.n1. Many ER nurses are not caring their work or patients need. Not saying they are bad people or not able to do the work. They are under huge pressure, and need more support from management. Someone should come and look for what they need routinely to support them. Do more surveys.n2. Utilities maintenance need more focus. Washroom some faucets are not working. It is horrible in a hospital. Some washroom door on ER are not able to lock. Emergency pull cord broken.
I brought a dear old friend to Birchmount Hospital Sat. night at a 11 pm and was leaving Sun. 1pm. It was quite the first hand experience to witness what all the staff at this hospital face every day 24hrs a day and I count it a great privilege to have met everyone of them from the receptionist to doctors I spoke to and everyone in between. So please to all of you who left negative reviews please give this some thought before posting this. What the staff are facing everyday is not just the Christmas rush, they face an impossible task every day and they are doing what they can. My old friend is still in hospital receiving 1st rate care from people who are stretched to the limit. As a Christian I thank my God for them and will keep them very much in my prayers.
I am a patient of Dr. Wongs in the psych unit outpatient program. He is a newer DR and rocks. He listens, is on top of new strategies in mental health, and works with his patients. If something is not working, he will help craft a different approach. Medicine side effects, he will help. Newer treatment frontiers, totally onboard to try. Has no problem referring to specialized programs. He is very easy to talk to. I usually hide my illness; with him I am able to talk a little about it. He has worked with my employer for related forms and also worked with social workers and other therapists. I don't think you can get a better doc in psych! The front desk staff, she is busy. She is always doing something. She is awesome. Leave a message or a fax, she will take care of it. She doesn't get the recognition she deserves.
