The working receptionist on the 14th floor at 9/5/2025 around 5:36pm is absolutely terrible. Her phone etiquette was not appropriate at all, and incredibly unprofessional. She is well aware of this fact as she wouldn’t give me her name.nnI was attempting to call on behalf of my collapsed uncle staying here. I am more than happy to abide by HIPPA as I am not yet listed as an emergency contact. I 100% cannot know the information I was looking for, and I understand.nnHowever, her tone, choice of words, were so incredibly unprofessional. Instead of bridging the gap between my uncle in hospice and reuniting with family, she decides to simply be rude. Absolutely no empathy. She didn’t even inquire if I was listed as an emergency contact or even wanted to look. A few simple clicks to help me out. She simply just wanted to hang up. I understand, maybe she is having a bad shift. I am glad I took it upon myself to ask what I could possibly do. My uncle doesn’t have a functioning phone as well, and the receptionist knows that. This is so incredibly sad.nnI never want to write google reviews but this is my attempt of having my voice heard.nnAs a healthcare student, I always hate to see people lacking empathy and compassion working at these hospitals… You have patients suffering and life is fragile. I am more than understanding, kind and use a gentle tone to handle these situations.nnI truly wish she had given me her name, but it only solidifies the fact she is trying to avoid being reprimanded. I am so sorry to all the families and patients that had to talk to her.nnIf the any hospital management wants to further this conversation, I would be more than happy to. The lines are recorded as well, please take a look. I really wish investigation is done. I hope the team decides to bring professionalism into this hospital. Please, please, please.nnThank you
had an endoscopic ultrasound and biopsy at St. Michael’s Hospital last Monday. Everyone there — from the front desk to the doctors and nurses — was so kind, patient, and professional. The doctor explained everything clearly before the procedure, which really helped me feel calm. The nurses took great care of me the whole time. I’m really thankful for how caring and supportive the whole team was. Highly recommend this hospital!
I had balloon valvuloplasty surgery in April 2024 under the care of Dr. Neil Fam and his team at St. Michael's Hospital. The scheduling process from Ottawa was seamless, with the reception team meticulously following my files and guiding me through emails and phone calls until my safe arrival. The nurses' kindness and exceptional care made my half-day procedure unforgettable. After 9 years of suffering with mitral valve regurgitation, I can now play ground tennis for 2-3 hours and run without limitations. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Neil Fam, whose expertise and empathy were instrumental in my recovery. I'm sharing my experience to help others who may be facing similar challenges. Choosing the right surgery was daunting, especially with concerns about stroke risk and taking warfarin as a young patient. During the procedure, I experienced sharp back pain, but the team's sedative treatments and empathy made me feel comfortable. The procedure successfully enlarged my valve by 50%, and I felt the difference upon waking. Dr. Fam's dedication and professionalism are truly commendable.nnThank you, Dr. Neil Fam and team, nurses, and God bless you all.
My Dad came in to St. Michael’s hospital for a day procedure in the imaging clinic, and we cannot say enough of this fabulous team that took care of him. The nurses at this department were gentle and so caring. They made us laugh which helped with the anxiety we were feeling. They were helpful and made my Dad feel comfortable. Dr. Brown did the procedure for my Dad and he was so nice, friendly and wanted to make sure my Dad was ok. He even came to see him at the end of the day to see how he was feeling. Dr. Brown and his team really made my Dad feel like a King while he was here. Great job to everyone involved with my Dad today, you all have made this experience stress free and have left us so touched.
Catherine, from 9CG Orthopedics Inpatient, provided truly exceptional care. She consistently kept me informed, detailing what to expect throughout the day, and ensured all my needs were promptly and appropriately addressed. It is her genuine patience and compassion that made my experience on the unit truly memorable. Although there is this one Filipino nurse got to know Louie is his name who is very inconsiderate, the worst experience i’ve ever had on my last day. Very unprofessional!!!
