The carrot cake is dry with extremely sweet frosting even though they say it’s cream cheese frosting. The cheese buns barely have any cheese on them at all but they are nice buns, just don’t expect more than a tiny sprinkle of cheese on them and I asked for their cheesiest ones. They do have nice pastry and the feta spinach thing I tried was nice and flakey, though wasn’t as full as it could have been. It’s a decent gluten free bakery but if anything it’s inspired me to do more of my own baking than to go back regularly.
Easy to park, bike, transit options. Extreme gluten-free environment. I purchased a sour dough bread which had some caraway seeds in it. The bread was a bit glueish but they have many kinds so i will try a different one. Purchased a very nice group of pastries for a dinner party which had a dehydrated sugared blood orange on it. Delicious and everyone loved them. Also got a trail mix granola Bar which is one of the nicest bars i have ever tried and had lots of delicious full sized almonds and a chewy texture. All in all very good experience and i thought the staff were especially sweet ¨̮
What a refreshing place to find after being diagnosed with Celiac disease! It's not only safe to eat, but it is beyond delicious and beautifully prepped. Honestly they had the most amazing pumpkin pie I've ever had. Thank you!
We bought a red velvet cake here for our daughter's birthday. She recently gave birth and we celebrated her birthday in hospital. We found the cake horribly dry. Would have liked to share cake with the nursing staff but I don't think they would have appreciated it. Definitely not worth the price!
After reading some of the reviews I was nervous to step in to Origen but diet drove me to try. I was pleasantly reassured when the young woman served me with a smile and helpful attitude. The second surprise was the bakery’s products which I have found tasty and full of healthy organic ingredients. To be honest I was expecting to only be accepting of Ok tasting product but now I know I can be gluten free from now on without sacrifice. Products tried: baguettes, Vega bread, and berry pie. like your mom made
I'm newly and begrudgingly gluten-free, and very happy to have a GF bakery in town. No complaints about staff, it was busy but we were helped promptly and courteously. Service work is often thankless, stressful and underpaid, and this is an insane labour market, so let's appreciate those who show up! The carrot cupcake is honestly some of the best carrot cake I've had, ever. The vegan chocolate ganache was ok - not my taste, but can definitely see why some love it. Looking forward to trying more items!
Delicious and beautiful cake that made my birthday so happy. The folks who helped me celebrate were really impressed -- and shocked that it was gluten free!
I worked at this bakery for about 4 months and I think I gained almost 4 pounds during work Omg Actually, I'm not gluten-free and vegan, but I couldn't resist that yummy stuff! Personally, my favourite bread is Vega, Spring, and Oatmeal. Especially muffins and scones change in taste every day, so it was fun to choose! Also Chocolate ganache cupcakes, Carrot cupcakes, Savory Gallet, Baguette-wich, and Quiches were my main reason to get fat! Haha If you want to get fresh stuff, you can go for it at the time below. But depends on the situation! Bread 8:30-9:00 Savoury 11:30-12:00 * Sweets are dependent on the situation but are usually set up perfectly between 12:00-1:00 Even though I have to go to work out to lose fat, I’ve been really happy when I try bread and sweets made with awesome ingredients! And I definitely would be there again as a customer
The best gluten-free bread in town! It’s so nice to be able to buy healthy nutritious bread. It’s the only place I buy my bread. Amazing quality, ingredients and customer service!
Wow! Edit… This bakery is a bit hard to find because it’s on the lower level of the mall/complex which bordered by Fort Street on the south, Pandora on the North, and Stradacoma Ave to the west.
