There's a lot in this cook street bakery to like. The pastries are great and definitely are on top of many experiences and the cinnamon bun accolades are well deserved! I prefer cream cheese frosting, but the cinnamon bun is among the best buns apart from that that I have enjoyed! It has a lot of cinnamon flavor, layered throughout, and it hits all my boxes for an amazing bite: soft inside with a little chew, and a subtle crisp outside for the textural contrast. The icing I do appreciate. The almond and apple croissant are both just as satisfying, but the best experience is with their sourdough. Over days of eating I have found it not to take on the same hardness as others so it's much easier to continually enjoy it over the week. The thinner crust adds to this perhaps and it maintains a softness with a good balance of tartness from their culture. Would come back many times over!
Patisserie Daniel has been around for ages, I've often driven by it and would see a line up outside before they open their doors. This bakery offers traditional baked goods and breads as well as cakes. We picked up a few croissants and a cinnamon bun. Both croissants are far from the flaky layer upon layers of French croissants, they are more crispy on the outside with a denser interior. However, the flavor and filling was not too sweet and you could really taste the almonds and fresh apples. Now, the star has to be the CINNAMON BUN! WOW, its the softest, fluffiest, ooey gooeyst ?! cinnamon bun I've had. It's made with brioche dough, moist and you get the cinnamon sugar filling around in each layer. I would definitely go again for just for the cinnamon bun!
We ordered wedding cakes from Patisserie Daniel and they were equally beautiful and delicious. We received many compliments from our guests on how much they enjoyed it. My mom and one of my bridesmaids are celiac so it was important for me to have delicious gluten free cake options for them. The staff at Pat Dan were so understanding and accommodating for this and we ended up deciding on one chocolate tier and one vanilla tier. Out of the samples we tried, the chocolate cake was actually better than the gluten free version. I'm leaving 4 stars since we had quite a bit of difficulty getting a hold of the bakery at times and they lost track of our order a few times. In the end everything worked out fine.
Always walked up from the elementary school for an after school treat of those giant cookies. I haven’t had one in 10yrs if at all. And it’s so good and chocolatey that I can’t share any with my dog super delish. They must layer dough and chocolate. Love it.
Excellent little bakery with a lot of charm. The quirky decor is matched by the amazing selection of desserts and breads. Highly recommended.
Came across this bakery while exploring Victoria and it is a must go! We got a Spinach Danish, a blueberry one, some raspberry and white chocolate cookies and a biscotti. Everything was amazing. Only comments were that the Danish had marzipan which was an unpleasant surprise for myself and that the biscotti was huuuuge which made it a little hard to eat. But the pastry was flaky and amazing. And the biscotti despite its size tasted delicious. The cookies were absolutely divine and prices were very fair.
The treats so so delicious!! The chocolate covered almond croissants were decadent. Everything is so so good and the prices are so so reasonable. The staff are so good!!
I ordered a 8 inch Black Forest Cake for my birthday and it was delicious! It served more than 12 people. Next time I'll order a 6 inch to minimize for leftovers!
The best bakery ever... the bread we come for in particular whenever in town. We were introduced to Daniel way back in the 90's when we bought one of his cakes for our wedding when he was baking for Murchies. Fast forward many years, just happened upon Patisserie Daniel's by accident and have been faithful customers ever since. Everything is high quality and delicious...highly recommend.
I mean, come on...I’ve been to Victoria tons of times and yet I only visited this bakery for the first time just recently. Just look at the pics. The apricot galette was amazing. The espresso biscotti was sooooo good. And the chicken and olive pastry pouch forgot it’s name was too good to be true. It’s so worth going here to get your treat on. I can’t wait to get back and eat more!
