OMG, their croissants are amazing!!! Almond croissant is the best, and price too!!! This place is not well known, but everyone should go there> Quality of baked good 100% better than Crust where the croissants are very heavy and better that Fol Epi where the croissants are dry and dare to charge you $8.00. Bond Bond's is my place to go in downtown. Staff are really helpful and friendly. I recommend this place 1,000 times!!!!
Victoria, BC is blessed with wonderful bakeries. I’ve been a Bond Bond’s client for many years. Even though I don’t go there as often as I used to when I was working downtown, I am surprised by the consistency of their products over the years. I think their blueberry bran muffins are wonderful and I appreciate the seasonal goods, like the ones baked at Christmas. I have tried all their breads, knowing that they use the best ingredients and no preservatives. The slow fermentation process used in BB made their breads easier to digest. Recently I found a new product – the “wild” sourdough bread. It is not only very tasty, but I realized I can eat a lot without any problems. Thank you Bond Bond’s for all the honest dedicated work you do to keep your products healthy and very enjoyable.
With some flashy options around the corner I think Bonds is a little overlooked. The sweet options are great and there are solid bread options. Love the Onion Board is my favorite to go with some balsamic and oil when I get home. Lemon squares, pecan squares, and peanut butter bars are our go-tos in the sweet categories. And I always seem to get more for a few less dollars than the other folks in the neighborhood. Make sure you check out the deals on the day old rack too.
Lately there has been a delta in services. The prices have significantly increased. You can get similar products elsewhere for less. Last time in there I noticed many of the bread loafs appeared overbaked although what I bought was excellent but again priced is much higher priced now. I hope this is a temporary stage for them as I have always enjoys their stuff.
My favorite bakery in Victoria sprouted grain bread & pb chocolate cookies are my go to. So delicious. Staff are friendly and the day old section is a serious bargain! Often they have free bread as well!
The bread is decent, but points off because of the employees or perhaps it was one of the owners, I couldn't tell. The attitude here leaves MUCH to be desired, Not only are they unfriendly with the typical Victoria "Take it or Leave it" approach, but they don't appear overly knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with better breads. Today I bought a loaf there that I thought might make good French toast for tomorrow morning, and the woman who served me asked if I wanted it sliced. I replied "Sure, if you can cut thick slices." She looked at me as though I'd grown three heads, so I just told her I'd do it myself. Once I had paid she gave me the bread in a plastic bag, and said they didn't use paper bags for bread. What kind of a self-respecting better bakery provides bread in plastic bags to their customers? Plastic bags destroy the crust of the bread. It's a good thing they aren't the only quality bakery in town, and that I can bake my own bread, because I'm not sure I'll be going back. EDIT A late addendum to my "quality bakery" comment. Now, the *only* place I buy bread is Fol Epi on Yates. I did try going back to Bond Bond's a few times after the aforementioned incident, with similar results. Then Fol Epi opened their new location and I've never looked back: Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere and amazing breads that are priced *very* competitively. If you haven't already check them out.
Extremely rude staff. I will never order anything from this bakery ever again. I was very confused when I went in, the staff member told me I had to pay on a order that was suppose to be pre paid. After I paid I asked for a receipt so I could get reimbursed. She got even more of an attitude towards me, ripped off the receipt and as I left she said to me oh my god. She never even gave back the piece of paper with the credit card number, it was suppose to have been charged too .She kept the piece of paper it was written on, it was on a yellow piece of paper attached to our order. She was holding it in her right hand while I was paying with my debit card. They called an hour earlier to tell us our order was ready for pick up and not once during that conversation did she let us know that they didn't charge the credit card. Such poor customer service. We want the credit card number back...
We ordered traditional Christmas Pudding with Hard Sauce from Bond Bond's this year and it was delicious! The whole family agreed it was the best we've ever had. Many thanks!
I showed up at 7am and purchased the fresh sourdough baguette, blueberry scones and blueberry danishes. The flavor and quality was outstanding. It was worth the early walk in the rain, we broke fast like Kings and Queens.
I am adjusting my rating to 4 stars, the rude employee seems to not be there anymore. Good sandwiches. The baking is delicious. The one employee who's always serving me is SO rude. Friends say the same thing.
