Great selection of products and brands you would otherwise have a hard time to find.nI also ordered a Shawarma platter: prepared with great care for hygiene gloves on, heavy on the meat. Tasted amazing and the price is cheaper than at other Shawarma restaurant yet same size portions.
Gross produce, expired, sold out, moldy.nAlso beware at the cookie section where the lady doesn't care about the sales, I asked her to give me 300grs of petite four the 3 varieties she told me and she charged me regular price instead of the sale $24 kg then I went back to tell her and she said she made a mistake then charged me $28.99/kg. I left it there and didn't buy them.nnEdit: I emailed you 3 days ago and haven't received a reply.
I recently purchased food okra stew from Mid-East Foods, and I was disappointed to find mold in the container upon opening it at home. Selling spoiled food poses a serious health risk to customers, and I expected better quality and food safety standards.nnI urge the store to check their inventory more thoroughly and ensure proper food storage. I hope this feedback helps them improve. Customers should inspect items carefully before purchasing.
For over 30 years, Njaim a.k.a Mid-East Food Centre has been home away from home for the Lebanese community, bringing to Ottawa the many products and brands that the Lebanese people knew and grew accustomed to in the homeland.nnThe store expanded over the years to have a bakery on site, as well as a shawarma section, and a hot food section where you get fresh home style made meals. Also, the produce section has expanded, and now they also have their own packaged brand of hummus and garlic spreads, as well as meals, etc.nnThat being said, I think Njaim will always be best known for their amazing bite size pastries, the best labneh spread in town, and fresh raw meat delicacies such as kebbeh nayeh, asbeh or sawda nayeh and kafta nayeh.nnIt's also important to mention that Njaim is family owned and operated, which adds a nice touch to the place, considering that its competitors are big grocery chains that rarely prioritize customer service.
I ordered a birthday cake from Middle East Food Center on December 5, 2024, expecting a high-quality product based on their reputation. Unfortunately, the cake was excessively sweet, making it unenjoyable for us and our guests. When I returned to the store on December 6, 2024, to raise my concern, both the manager and the baker insisted that the sweetness was their “store preference,” refusing to acknowledge that there might have been a mistake.nnAs a customer, I should not need to specify “less sugar” for a standard cake. A good bakery should have balanced recipes and be open to feedback, but this store seems unwilling to take complaints seriously. This dismissive attitude toward customer concerns reflects poorly on their commitment to quality and service.nnIf you’re considering ordering cakes, pastries, or birthday pizzas here, be cautious. They appear to prioritize their preferences over customer satisfaction, which is disappointing and unprofessional.
