An Afghan fine dining but an Afghan home made meal at Heart.nFrom the moment you walk in you are welcomed with a beautiful smile.nTaken care of all your needs and every drink and meal is explained to ensure you know what you are getting.nThe owner came to talk to me hearing I have come from Toronto and with a genuine gesture of welcome, we were deep in conversation about Zarak and the need for in our community.nnOverall a memorable experience and will definitely come back again on my next trip to Vancouver.nAnother beach is called Afghan Kitchen and Elem coming soon next door to Zarak.

As soon as we walked in we were immediately taken care of. All the staff were extremely hospitable, offering things that you wouldn’t even think you needed before they suggested it!nnOur server Sofia was also incredible!! She offered great recommendations and was so sweet. The whitefish dumplings are a must have! Thank you Sofia :

Service and atmosphere was great! Nice restaurant but parking was a bit hard to find. Took us a few rounds to find parking on the street.nnWe went for brunch. The French toast was great, one of the best French toast I’ve tried. The other dish was the skillet was pretty good but the kebab was a bit dry and tough. Everything else about it was great though. Overall, probably won’t be back for brunch but we will try their dinner dishes.

A great experience with a variety of flavors and dishes, although some things are not as good as others.nnAtmosphere was great. The interior is classy and opinionated, and the interesting styling also applies to the cutlery and cups. I could really feel that elements of Afghanistan and the culture of the region was represented in the space.nnService was good! Our server was attentive, gave us good recommendations, and provided us with information about each dish that was served. However, it was hard to hear them through the chatter and background noise, so I missed a lot of it.nnThe food was quite good! We ordered a good selection of dishes to share between three people, and found ourselves feeling stuffed by the end. My favorite was the fish masala, which I highly recommend, and the dumplings were delicious too! I wouldn't recommend the lamb, which was expensive but inconvenient to eat and was underwhelming in comparison to the other dishes. Great drink selection too, although they are on the expensive side.nnDefinitely recommend this place, but concerns about the value for the price make me hesitate to give it a perfect score. They do also offer brunch, so check it out!

This was a great restaurant experience. Very inventive menu merging North American dishes with Afghan flavor. The drinks menu is just as amazing. I had the waffle and the potatoes and am still thinking about them days later my friends had the chicken and waffles and the chickpea avocado toast. I was just in Vancouver for 24 hours and this was the highlight of my time there. I will make sure to return on my next visit!
