Thought we try it for the first time. Service was fast. Portions were extremely small, taste were nothing special, overpriced given the portions were smaller. Good varieties of selections on the menu. Probably chose the wrong dish to try. 3 dishes = $45 including taxes and tips. Pay with cash 10% off. Won’t be coming back again.
A northern Chinese cuisine restaurant at First Markham Place, serving Shanghai style dim-sum, noodles and stir-fries. The little soup dumplings was juicy and tasty. But the spicy beef noodle soup lacked a bit of spiciness, although the beef was succulent, chunky and soft. Pot sticker was nicely done. Service was attentive, typical of Chinese restaurants.
My parents brought me here everytime we visited Toronto when I was a kid and the taste of their food is still as I remembered it. This place is best to go as a group as they have a large selection in the menu. This way you get to taste more different dishes. Of course, we have to order their specialty: the soup dumplings. Mind it is really hot, don’t put the whole piece in your mouth at once. Their hot and sour soup as well as their green onions pancakes are also among my favourite.
Freshly made dumplings. Good taste, service, location and interior. Very busy so it’s better to go early by opening hours. We like xiao long bao and soy milk, sour soup and spicy dumplings not so much. Ding Tai Fung in any countries never disappoints.
Everything was delicious! Food came out pretty quickly minus the red bean paste buns towards the end. The portions are also extremely generous even with the low prices. Big fan of the ribs!!
Looking for some northern chinese dim sum fare? Look no further. This restaurant is located in the busy First Markham Place mall on Hwy 7and Fairburn Dr. There is plenty of parking however expect to park pretty far as this place gets busy. We had a reservation for 10 people and we got a private room in the back. I wasn't able to do the usual pics for every dish as everyone cam very hungry. The dumplings are hand made in house and served fresh in large bamboo steamers. You can also order pan fried pork dumplings as well. Every dumpling was like a burst of soup. You can dip it in the ginger and red vinegar provided. We got vegetarian, pork and shrimp, pork and crab. All the dumplings were so fresh and you can taste the difference from the froEn varieties. The noodles were good but didn't look so appealing. The fried rice we got had like diced pieces of ham or dare I say "Spam?" The green onion pancakes were thick and fluffy with lots of scallions with every bite. When comparing this place with the other large chain I frequented recently, this place hands down exceeded my expectations. Only critique is that after all the orders came through the servers didn't come by to check on us to refill our tea pots. If you're used to Chinese service quality this was about on par with other places. My suggestion focus on the service aspect and you will certainly keep new customers coming back for more.
I have been going here since I was little and the taste hasn’t changed a bit but the portions have gotten a little bit smaller since the last time I came here before covid. I love the texture of the dough they use for their hand pulled noodles and dumplings, you can tell it’s all hand made - not too chewy and very springy. Their spicy chilli wontons and savoury soy milk are a must order every time I go and it is hard to find something that isn’t tasty on their menu.
Food is consistently good here. Service is consistently inconsistent. Some people were good. Some were busy talking to each other. This location packs a bunch of tables together. It's not really comfortable. Scarborough location is better. Parking: Restaurant is in a very busy plaza. Although there are a lot of spots. Sometimes it's very difficult to get a spot.
Visited here for the first time, it was an overall okay experience. Quite pricey, service is okay, most things ordered were good or fair. Not a restaurant I’d crave for or return, still would like to try the famous Din Tai Fung outside of Canada.
Authentic Shanghai style dim sum and dishes. Yummy! But a bit pricy! Can watch chefs from glass window kitchen making dough and noodles. Good thing not as busy as some other restaurants for safe distancing.
