Good quality chinese food. I had the dinner combo for 2 for $50, which came with a soup, dumplings, 2 dishes and dessert. Food quality exceeded my expectations. Restaurant decor is also slightly upscale. They are busy on weekends, but easy to get a table on weekdays. I will return.Food: 5/5
hey have a new condensed menu. A focus on Northern Style Dimsum…. Steam Pork Dumplings $7.25 Pan Fried Pork Dumplings $8.60 are my fave. They also make a great fried Rice Cake with pork $17.99 and a classic Shanghai Noodle with pork & cabbage $15.99 This place have been around for around 20 years and was once always crowded with line ups. The food is always fantastic. They have since downsized to half the size most likely due to covid. But it is great to see they survived these tough times!!
Pretty good quality and authentic Shanghai style cuisine; braised fatty pork really good, also loved spiced braised beef noodles. Dessert fried Sasame egg white puff was a must! Noticed every other table ordered it.
Last time I came here to eat was 3 years ago... And must I say, lots has changed since. We went in on a Monday around 11am for a quick lunch before heading back to Montreal. Right from the start we were given attitude like if we weren't supposed to come in this early They open at 1030. Even with no one else in the restaurant, we had to flag down our waitress to take down our order. While we were ordering, our waitress was arrogantly answering our questions while looking away the whole time like if she didn't want us to be there. The waitress then also started talking about us to the other waitress right infront of us I mean, the front counter was literally next to our table and we understand Chinese so not too smart of her. Ordered many items to share. The pan fried pork buns were just awful. Barely pan fried, more of a mushy steamed bread with a piece of oily unflavoured piece of meat in the middle. Then, the house special fried rice cake. Way too much soy sauce, and portion to price ratio was very unfortunate. For 17$ you get a very small portion. We also had the noodles and minced pork in black bean sauce. It was the best dish out of all. Hot, flavourful and delicious. The rest of the food was ok. It was time for the bill. Although we didn't want to tip the waitress for her amazing service, we still gave her 15%. No acknowledgement whatsoever. We gave her the money and not even a simple thank you came out of her mouth. She went to the back of the counter, opened the folder and made sure that we tipped. Very disappointing... Won't be back.
My niece-in-law recommended this place to us for Xiaolongbao steamed pork dumplings. The food is much better than Ding Tai Fung which was our frequent restaurant for Xiaolongbao, but not any more. The place is clean and is always busy. Deco is nice. We are happy with our food, but the food has too much MSG and we were so thirsty after arrived home. I would advise the chefs not to use too much MSG. The dessert "Sesame Rice Balls with Soy Bean Powder M5" for dessert is a MUST to try. Very yummy!
Haven't been to this place for a very long time nothing to do with pandemic and heard that their steamed crab pork dumplings taste different and I'm very picky about these steamed buns so gave it a try tonight. I was very happy with the steamed crab pork dumplings ordered. We also ordered the steamed lobster & port dumplings, pan fried port dumplings, pork and vegetables wontons in soup, pan fried pork buns, veggie spring rolls and salty rice roll with fried stick. I find the salty rice roll for the rice not as sticky as expected other than that everything we ordered taste really good. Will definitely go back as I'm a big fan of steamed crab pork dumplings.
Pretty good shanghai style cuisine. Menu prices were reasonable. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was clean and spacious.
Came here at noon on a Sunday. We reserved a large table for 9 ahead of time. Restaurant was clean, service was pleasant and the food was flavourful. Parking was easy to find. Would recommend and look forward to returning.
Brought two Brazilian friends, and they really like the dishes. As an authentic Shanghainese, I would say, generally the dishes are of high quality and taste, especially like the the Chicken soup Wonton, steamed pork dumplings, sweet and sour pork, Mu Shu chicken with wrap, and fried rice cake. I will rate them 5 star. But for Braised bean curd with crab meat and Shanghai crispy smoked fish I will give 3.5 star, as it uses sea crab meat without crab roe, and uses sea fish for smoked fish. Understood that there are some limitations for acquiring authentic ingredients to be perfect. After all, it’s a great tasty experience, would recommend
This might be the best Shanghai restaurant in Markham. We tried the XLB, sesame pancake with minced pork, wonton in hot and sour soup, and the A LA stir fried rice cakes. On another trip we tried the crab XLB, stir fried eel, sesame pancake, Dan Dan noodles and fried egg white with red bean. Everything tasted really good and was made with good technique as the boss himself is the chef here. XLB had very thin wrappers and plenty of soup. Favourite is the wontons in hot and sour soup and the stir fried eel which goes well with the sesame pancakes. The fried egg white dessert is ok. Staff are friendly and efficient.
