Corazon De Maiz

Simple and small Mexican spot with tasty tacos (3 for $10 I believe), generous and delicious burritos, and solid quesadillas. Certainly among the best Mexican joints in town and a must-try for market visitors. They also make and sell their own hot sauces which are amazing and can get very spicy! While the central Byward market location is great, their business hours leave a lot to be desired. The lack of a liquor license is the only other downside since it prevents being able to pair beers with their outstanding tacos and thus makes their bar/counter seating feel a touch disappointing and underwhelming. By far the best burrito I’ve had in ottawa...which says a lot because I eat a lot of burritos. The customer service is also really good and the ingredients are fresh always. Never have had a bad experience.

Delicious, freshly made Mexican food in the heart of Byward Market. The owner of the restaurant takes great pride in his food and he is very attentive to his guests. He knows a lot of the regulars that come in by name. It’s a great indication when a place has a lot of repeat customers like this and Corazon de Mais is one of those places.

lovely spot in the market serving delicious food! The meat is marinated to perfection. Prices are great and portions are very generous but not overwhelming. Definitely a must-try for Mexican food in the Market area!

Wonderful! After living in Texas I love Mexican food. It's pretty hard here in Ottawa to get good Mexican food. Yet this little gem is truly worth it. I even ate guacamole that was amazing and I usually hate that. Yummy. Go here!
