Huh -- my old review must have gotten deleted. I came here a year or so ago for the Auto Dept. There were some younger guys working there and they didn't have the best attitudes. No customer service skills. Too casual. While I was standing back and waiting for the work to be completed, the employee literally jingled my keys and whistled at me to get my attention, like I was a dog. Absolutely bizarre. Elsewhere in the building you'll get fine service! I like the main store. But not the auto department. I also find it curious that the owner responds to some 5-star reviews here but not the multitude of poor ones. Funny stuff.187 reviews with a 2.8 average is pretty telling on Google. Those just aren't a few errant 1-star knee-jerk reviews. That's indicative of something more consistent and problematic that's not being fixed.

Auto department is completely incompetent or just scam artists.
Took my car in and was informed that I had been driving for months with "oil in the brake fluid reservoir" and that I now had zero brakes. I was told I would have to completely replace my braking system including the master cylinder, calipers, and all rubber components. The cost would be somewhere in the 1,500 to 2,000 dollar range, maybe more. Mechanic explained to me that the problem was so bad that he had trouble putting the brake fluid lid back on because the supposed oil in the brake fluid reservoir had completely warped the lid. Not only that, but the problem was so bad that the rubber components expanded and destroyed the sensor that allowed my brake lights to shut off, which was the reason I had originally brought my car in. I was told that my car was unsafe to drive and would have to stay at Canadian Tire until they fixed the problem for me, they could not even move it out of the bay - apparently.
After speaking with my regular mechanic, he was sure they were trying to rip me off. I went back to Canadian Tire to find my car parked in the middle of the parking lot. I refused to pay the 77 dollar fee they tried to charge me just to look my car over and lie to me and then went to my car in the parking lot to find it unlocked.
Surprise, surprise, the brakes worked when I got in the car. Checked the brake fluid reservoir and had no issues putting the lid on and off. Took it to my regular mechanic and he explained to me that there is a switch under the brake pedal that controls the brake lights and that it had become clogged with dirt. I also did need to replace my master cylinder, but all other parts of my vehicle worked fine. I have since been driving my car with no issues, and the brake lights now turn off. Saved myself thousands of dollars by taking it to a reputable mechanic.
Never take your car here, even for the smallest of issues - they will lie to get you to do work to your car that is unnecessary.

On Christmas Eve day, just before we hit the highway to see family I found my wiper fluid lines all frozen up. With no idea what to do and where to go without a heated garage or tools I stopped in at Canadian Tire. John in parts and service came to my rescue. He took the time to allow me to pull my vehicle into the closed service bay. He took apart a few pieces to get at the fluid line and proceeded to thaw out every inch of it by hand. John went above and beyond for me and my family. He got everything thawed and we put some new fluid in and all was good. I truly appreciate John for helping me out in a bind. He easily could have gave me a few tips and said he couldn't help me any further, but instead he took the extra time to make me a priority and found a solution. A stand up guy. If you use Canadian tire for your auto needs, I would highly recommend asking for JOHN when you head in to the parts desk.

Decent store. All Canadian tires have bad quality items. Have bought air pumps and they stop working always after a month or two. The last time I was in the staff in auto section was rude and not
Helpful. They wouldn’t not replace my battery even though it had warranty and tested it was bad claiming it was damaged. One post had a scuff on it but regardless the battery was bad. Worst service ever. I’ve also been looking for oil that has been on sale asking a gentlemen in the auto section only to be told it’s in the back they don’t have any stock in the front. So go get it who’s fault is that.

My husband and I were staying in the area when our power steering pump decided to go. Phil in the auto department was so unbelievably kind to us. Really went the extra mile to help us out. After replacing the part we headed out on the road. Once past Whitecourt, we found out the hard way the part was faulty (no fault of Phil and the team). We call Phil who then called Whitecourt and ensured they would help us and get us back on the road at NO COST to us. And would have the work done that day. This was 330pm so overtime was going to be necessary. Phil insisted the labor cost be sent back to him. Above and beyond! Can't say thank you enough. Truck is still going strong. Thank you Phil❤
