Ordered vegetable chowmein and was slightly disappointed. I'll start with the good which was portion size. I got a lot of food for the money and feel it was worth it from a value perspective. For the bad, the chowmein was drowned in a soupy sauce that made it soggy and wet which I was not a fan of. Secondly, while I appreciated the amount of vegetables there were way to many. It was like 60% vegetables and 40% noodles. I prefer a higher noodle ratio because that is what I enjoy eating. In the photo I removed the vegetables so you can see just how many noodles are actually left. Flavor wise, it was ok... nothing to write home about. Nothing special and I kept having to get past the "soupyness". If I was in Victoria again I'd probably try elsewhere.
I'd been looking for a Chinese food place to order from since I moved out to Vic for School, and Young's has hit home every time! The food really is good, and the owner is always so kind and passionate over the phone. I agree with some of the other reviews that I wish there was a menu update, as I'd love to be able to order dumplings haha, but its not a big deal. Also I actually enjoy the spring rolls, they're crunchy and filled with cabbage I hope to go in to eat once the pandemic is over, but for now I'll settle for ordering Chinese food when I don't feel like doing my meal prep. It really is a treat to order from here.
The atmosphere is a little uncomfortable dining in…. Staff don’t interact the best with us as customers we say us because both times there’s never been anyone else there food came in an amazing portion however it was cold from the first second … and everything was soupy as far as the chowmein/chop suey. Spring rolls are more like spring folds… but cool concept I suppose if that’s what the point was??
Great family restaurant and Victoria's best kept secret and hidden jem. Been going there since 2016 when I visit Victoria. Staff are friendly and serve huge portions. Delivery driver the other night when I had arrived in Victoria and checked in to the hotel was friendly and professional just like at the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Accommodating for children's menu; they have a high chair and booster seat available. Parking: Sometimes paid parking in the area. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access ground level. Staff are accommodating for wheelchair access.
Just way too expensive now. My delivery last night was 55$ for 3 dishes. Disappointment is an understatement. Ridiculous. Delivered about 15 blocks away. 5 wontons in entire dish of Wo. Woeful. Sad.
Made a takeout 4 my parents anniversary dinner . Was amazing . I’m a regular and will stay that way !
We ordered from Young’s for the first time and found it to be quite disappointing. The vegetable chow mein was a good portion but flavourless. The mushroom fried rice was too small and again flavourless. The sweet and sour pork was soggy. The Szechuan Tofu had good texture with good size vegetables but again flavourless. The egg rolls had a good crisp and good in size only to find them empty with little bit of celery and meat. The vegetable chop suey was a mix of frozen and fresh veggies and not your typical chop suey. The best we ordered would be the kung pau chicken which had a nice flavour. Overall it was a flavourless and expensive meal and we would not try it again.
after some disappointment at other places in town, this is our new go to. this is exactly what will satisfy your craving for Chinese food. great on the phone, quick delivery, reasonable prices
Fun atmosphere..have popped in here a number of times over the years . I love the retro dinner feel it has to it . Great staff good food great prices .
After 20 years of ordering from here I got food that was just awful. Sechzwan prawns tasted like dish water. The rest of the food was bland at best. Sorry Young’s you have lost a long time customer
