Golden City Restaurant

Go where the locals go and this is where all the locals were. We dumpling hopped all down China town and this place was packed when every other place was empty. The taro and barbecued pork dumpling was insanely delicious. Our food came out very quickly despite this large restaurant being almost full.

We ordered take out at a very busy time 6pm on Saturday but our order was ready on time and it came in nice containers that don't leak! You know how sometimes you get home and gravy or whatever has leaked out? Nope ! Not with this order!! Food was yummy! Would order from here again.Food: 4/5

Busy day here as it's the Chinese New Year. glad we made reservations. We had all vegetarian dishes minus one they put shredded scallops on so we just didn't eat it, but we didn't complain about it was too busy to bother. This place looks dated so the outside does not reflect the insideFood: 5/5

Fantastic meal last nite. We arrived for a late dinner around 9pm but they open till 11pm so that was fantastic. Both servers that helped us were extremely friendly I was craving for seafood and she gave us her honest opinion of what was fresh ...we went for the BC Dungeness crab. She suggested this special way of cooking it, fried rice steam in the lotus leaf..crab has fried garlic bits and on too of the crab Is smooth , light flavourful egg whites...just incredible. We added a combo A ...can't go wrong with combo A ss pork, fried rice and chicken chop suey , a bowl of Fish maw and crab meat soup. I love this soup and it came out piping hot ... ask for , on the side, a little red vinegar and white pepper makes it's really out of this world. Finally the server, on the house, added a dessert for us ..I was in luck I'm not a big fan of the normal red bean soup but tonite was hot coconut tapioca with taro dessert soup enjoy ps looks like restaurant has been renovated no more red table clothes and now has nice clean floors too.

We went for dinner craving some chinese dim sum. We ordered a mix and the food was good! We had a combo with chowmein and Breaded Almond Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork, Chicken Chopsuey. We also ordered chicken corn soup, seafood congee, bean curd roll with pork and daikon cakes. They were all tasty and we enjoyed our meal. Service was decent but due to weather it was a small crew so wait was a bit long. However, it was indeed very cold as all the other reviews stated and would recommend dressing warm if going on a cold day.

There are authentic Cantonese dim sum, swimming seafood , traditional Cantonese cuisine, and elegant dining environment. Enjoy good food at golden city Restaurant

THE BEST DIM SUM IN VICTORIA I love their sui mai - it's #1 in Canada And peanut pork dumpling, rice rolls, har gow, oh, the daikon cakes as well! Honestly everything was above and beyond the expectation. Please keep this good business ongoing

Came here with a group of 8 for lunch, staff were friendly, food came promptly and tasted great. Very authentic according to my family. Came back for dinner as well and had another great experience. Too busy eating didn’t have time to take more photos pricing was also fair

Ordered from Golden city using their online system and enjoyed the convenience. I ordered vegtable chowmein with only beansprouts and two egg rolls. Golden city correctly made my order which I was worried about because I just wrote the "only beansprouts" into the comments. This showed me they pay attention to detail. The chowmein was a good large portion had great flavor and was a resonable price. The egg rolls were lackluster without much flavor and the wrapping was a bit thick for my liking. Overall good meal and I would order again just provide not the egg rolls next time.
