Really excellent food. We had the traditional crossing the bridge and the seafood. Both were amazing and had a bunch of ingredients I'd never heard of before. Definitely delicious. Also tried the healthy juice. Tasted like a strawberry white wine, it was very nice. They were out of the fish ball soup I wanted to try but that wasn't a big deal at all. Next time I would try the cold pigs ears because that sounds exceptionally interesting. Just barely knocking off a star for the service. Fairly quick seating but it did take almost 15 minutes to receive a menu. There were only two servers on that night and it was quite busy. They were very obviously stressed and running around. If I went again I'm sure I would amend my review to 5 stars. The waitresses could have just used an extra hand :
The food was so great and the price of it is reasonable. It is also good for a whole family to have dinner or lunch here. I like the decoration and music playing in this restaurant as well. I really enjoyed the delicious broth and rice noodles in this restaurant and the waitresses told me that it took around 8 hrs for them to make the broth every day! More importantly, although there were full of people in the restaurant when I was eating, the waitresses tried their best to bring the drink and food for me as soon as possible. There were just two waitresses and almost all of the tables were full, so I think they already provided their best service and all of the customers in the restaurant also waited for them patiently and didn’t rush them. What a nice place and people here were happy. I would definitely come here and enjoy other dishes soon! 100% recommend!!:
Not a big fan of the "crossing the bridge" noodles but A BIG FAN of all the other traditional Yunnan dishes we tried: Cured beef, spicy braised chicken, sweet and sour marinated veggies, spicy seaweed, etc. We love those and will be back. The restaurant was quite popular that it ran out of food 1h30 before the closing time.
I had the crossing bridge noodle soup vegetarian and the marinated egg. The soup is a nice, light broth and loaded with ingredients. This place starts to get very full by 7pm, so arrive early if you want to avoid a wait and the crowd. They have indoor seating, take out, and free wifi. Very nice staff as well.
Staff are Chinese but very fluent in English. The beef rice noodles and the tofu rice noodles were very well cooked. We also ordered a bowl of Wonton soup with 12 pieces. They tasted really good if you add some sauce on the side of the table.
I was excited to try this family owned restaurant in Chinatown in June 2022. I was even more excited to see that they offered several vegetarian and vegan alternatives. I didn't think I'd get to try the Across the Bridge Noodles, but they offer a vegetarian version can be made vegan if you ask for vegetable broth and don't take the quail egg. We ordered the vegetarian Across the Bridge Noodles, pork ribs noodle soup, and fried fungus fried then preserved in oil. The food was quite delicious. I was happy to have some hot broth on a cold rainy day. HOWEVER, service was atrocious. The servers were trying hard, but they were clearly inexperienced and lacking service skills. We never got any water nor the tea we ordered. The table next to us at least got glasses, but the man got up and grabbed a water pitcher from the serving station to fill them up himself. My Across the Bridge Noodles broth and ingredients were brought to the table, but they forgot the noodles. I had to ask for them when a server finally passed by, then stop her when she forgot who they were for and walked them past me several times. One server tried to clear our table before we were finished eating we were not there for a long time, we finished and left before most of the tables who were there before us. The servers turned some customers away at the door saying they were too busy/closing soon, but then said nothing when other customers tired of waiting to be addressed sat themselves down. When the bill came, we had to remind them to remove the items they forgot. They were never mean nor rude, just really bad at waiting tables. It's a shame because I wanted to like this place. I would've given it 3 stars for the food alone, but it wasn't delicious enough to compensate for the poor experience and disappointed boyfriend. N.B. As a Chinese Canadian, I'm used to small village restaurants so I wasn't expecting to be asked how I was enjoying my evening or whether I wanted dessert. This was just bad service. I at least get tea and my full order at the hole in the wall restaurants abroad.
First taste of this dish is from 10 Second Noodle in Bellevue, WA; they set the bar for me. After 6 days of trying and repeated our favs, all the food and restaurants on our cruise ship, todays top excursion is to get some Asian cuisine. Soup! First, this place was full right at opening and a little busy with only a few staff. We waited 15 mins and had to flag the wait staff to take our order. What we ordered: traditional soup, beef soup and stew pork ribs. Broth was a little too oily for us and didn’t have as brothy flavor as l would have like. The beef soup, beef was not tender at all and too fatty. I prefer 10S broth and their beef tendons, yes fatty, but on the side. For the pork, battered and fried first. It was okay. We preferred our homemade pork stew. Overall not bad, definitely can’t go wrong if you’re craving noodles.
Good food and service whether dining in or take out! The broth of the crossing bridge noodles is very flavourful, and a fun experience to mix in each ingredient yourself. Wontons are generously filled and tasty. Definitely try a dessert or two. I’m hoping to be able to try the rose pastry it was out of stock on my last two visits. The glutinous rice pudding was just the right amount of sweetness and wonderfully warm. Looking forward to my next meal here!
My husband and I got the traditional and beef Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle CBRN. It was definitely an interesting experience to dump the individual ingredients into the soup. Although I'm not a fan of some of the ingredients provided, I did enjoy the soup and the texture of the noodles was perfect! I love me some clear soupy noodles! FYI - they stopped seating at about 7:21pm
This is a gem in Chinatown. I found delicious vegan food here. The stewed soy sauce noodle is quite tasty. Typical vegan noodles tend to be bland, but this restaurant is exceptional. They use mushrooms to create delicious flavor which surpasses meat dishes in my opinion. My husband had the vegan crossing bridge noodle. The mushroom based broth is tasty. The price is lower than other restaurants. A noodle dish only costs 12 dollars. In Victoria, a main dish typically costs 15 CAD$. Friendly staff. I would go back again. I hope they develop more vegan choices in the future.
