This is the best ER I have ever seen. Recently been to 6 ER visits in 2 other towns and finally took the chance to drive down to TO to get access to the specialists we needed. Only 3 people there when we walked in! Security was kindly and respectfully helping a man get shoes and food. We were registered the moment we walked in, added to an app that had all our visit information and testing results instantly. In the first 15 minutes we were called in, registered, were triaged by the kindest nurse in the world, had testing and bloodwork done and he had loaded all our notes that we brought into the system for the doctor before we sat back down. In the first 40 minutes we had an IV in, we were in the room and saw the doctor. The doctor we saw was Dr. Jordan Ho and he was amazing! He got us all the appropriate testing and alerted the neurosurgery team that we needed to be assessed. When in testing, we had a CT done by the most patient and caring individual who persisted to find a way to get the imaging done despite the pain. No matter who we came into contact with they were respectful of the fact that I was there to support my daughter she could not manage this visit alone due to her disability unlike at other hospitals like Health Sciences North who won't even let me walk her in to get set up for imaging! This hospital really understands what it's like to be a patient with complex issues. Even when it turned out not to be a neurosurgery emergency, they referred us to Toronto Women's College to figure out the source of her pain and issues. Up north, after 22 hours of waiting in the waiting room, you are quickly examined, told you are not dying at this moment so go follow up with a walk in or family doctor and you are sent away with no testing and no answers - just a bunch of pain meds. I love this hospital and their team so much I can't express!
I went to the emergency room at this hospital twice in one week after an accident. The staff were really nice and attentive. The waiting time wasn’t too longor maybe it was because of my condition. I saw that the reviews are not that nice, so I thought it was fair to share my experience. Overall, a nice hospital with friendly staff.
Avoid This ER at All CostsnnIf you're in a real emergency, I strongly advise against bringing your loved ones here. My friend experienced a cardiac event, and the care we received was far from what you'd expect in a life-threatening situation.nnFacility:nThe waiting area was pure chaos—frustrated patients were becoming aggressive due to the lack of attention. For the entire 13 hours we were there, not a single Environmental Service Worker was seen. Blood was left on the floor, the area was unsanitary, and there wasn't even water available. It was an unsettling environment, especially for a healthcare setting.nnMedical Care:nIt took 3 hours to get a CT scan and another 2 hours to interpret the results. The focus quickly shifted from my friend's tachycardia to a potential issue with his stomach, which turned out to be false. After enduring a second CT scan—where the technician treated us with little care— we were informed that what was thought to be a mass was simply “static.” Worse yet, the prescription they had given was incorrect, leading to more confusion and delays. .nnStaff:nThe staff showed little to no compassion or urgency. After being left in a hallway for hours without any updates, we approached the nurse’s station and were told by a doctor, “I’m a doctor, go find a nurse.” There were serious privacy concerns as confidential medical information was discussed openly in front of other patients. The doctors repeatedly asked the same questions without addressing the main issue, causing us to wait even longer because of an error in reading the first scan. Additionally, a language barrier exacerbated the confusion, further delaying my friend's treatment.nnLack of Dignity:nAs we were directed to another waiting area, we passed an open door where two nurses were assisting an elderly male in the shower—door wide open. It was a complete violation of his dignity, and yet another example of the lack of care for patients’ well-being.nnIf my friend's condition had worsened, I shudder to think of the outcome. For the sake of your loved ones, avoid this place at all costs.
Terrible service here by the health care 'professionals' and I use that terms extremely loosely. Pre-triage attendant was pretty rude and not very friendly or welcoming. Came here to tale my mom and eventually after 2 hours she got called in the other room to see a doctor. The male 'nurse' who called to take her in was sooooo rude!! I couldn't believe his attitude!! Extremely unprofessional and pathetic. He was definitely out of line. Guy was giving me so much attitude and the minute ypu try and say something to stick up and defend yourself he says to go wait outside. I would not come here ever again unless my life depended on it and I highly do not recommend anyone coming to this emergency room if they have a choice. The waiting room is very dirty and unsanitary. That coupled with the rude and unprofessionalism of the staff working here equals just bad experience overall. I think I would rather die than come back here for any type of service. I've been to a few hospitals and emergency rooms but this one has to be the worst of them all! Even worse than st. Mike's and st. Joe's!!! The staff here really need some training o how to treat people and patients!!! I'm sure there's times when these rude individuals may get treated badly by some but man do they deserve it for the way they treat people!! What goes around comes around! I wish this guy would come to my place of work so I could tell him to hit the road!!! These rude workers just treat patients so badly because they can, if you try and defend yourself or speak up for yourself they simply say that you are abusive to them and have the police come. In reality they're just bullies doing whatever they feel like with no remorse or consequences since they know if you try and say anything or stand up for yourself they will just call the cops on you. Whatever happened to our anti-bullying laws???!!! I really am so amazed that these are the people we hire to treat the sick and injured??? What were we thinking? If these kinds of people hate their lives and jobs so much they shoyld find a new profession as they really don't deserve to be working I health care that's for sure!!! Wow it's not just the one guy who is rude! There was another guy waiting in the waiting room, a nurse called his name he said do you have a wheelchair?her response was why you can't walk? He replied no tha5s why I'm here for. Her rebuttal that she yelled while walking away to get him one was well how would I know? Thats why I asked!!! Really? Tha5s considered compassionate, caring, or kind? Nope justmore examples of the terrible service provided by all the staff working here!
Shocking to say th least, security guards do not care, they watch tv in their rooms and literally ignore issues in the waiting. A blonde female guard and a large male guard stayed inside the guard cubicle and did nothing but watch videos…The large guard only watches YouTube all day and you can literally see them watching YouTube videos in their office….. literally look at the photo they are heads down watching their phones not even taking turns patrolling or guarding.
