The Dorian, Autograph Collection

Absolutely great experience at The Dorian for a one night stay in Calgary. Everything was very well thought out to integrate the hotel’s theme and style. The hotel room was beautiful, bed was so comfortable, bathroom was spacious, and all of the included shampoos/ soaps smelled lovely. Finding and accessing the hotel was easy; we did not have a car to park but it seemed like a simple process with the lot directly next door.nWe ate breakfast on Floor 2 and dinner on floor 27 “Wilde on 27”; both were great.

This hotel has luxury feels without the attitude. The customer service is fantastic. The rooms are modern, clean and the bed is super comfortable. There are little artistic touches throughout the hotel and the room. Don’t expect a grand lobby, but you will be glad you stayed here. I had a slight housekeeping issue at the start of my stay and they were quick to sort it out. The personnel at this hotel really go above and beyond. This was my second time staying here and I just had to write the review because one time can be a fluke but this felt like a great stay on repeat. This may just have become my favourite hotel in Calgary!

Arrived at 5pm for our room. We were told that they were still cleaning the room and it would be another 10min. We sat in the Prologue lounge for 90min before they finally finished cleaning the room. The front desk staff tried to make up for it with a couple of drinks.nNext morning we went for breakfast and it took 45min in an almost empty restaurant to get our food.nThis is a high end hotel operating like a low end hotel. They are trying hard to be top notch, but lack the management and guest experience to get there. Too bad, the room and the hotel look great and when we went to the fine dinning on another trip the food and service were great.nVery poorly managed and extremely disappointing for what is supposed to be a ‘Signature’ hotel.

If you're in Calgary, you must stay at this hotel. The thought and time that went into curating the hotel experience are mind-blowing. From the interior decoration to the thoughtful elements of the room design, to the live pianist playing at the lobby cafe, everything is meticulously crafted. Oh, and you must check out the restaurant on the top floor—their desserts are unbelievable.

My husband and I live just outside of Calgary but our gift to each other for any occasion is a night in downtown Calgary. We decided to try the Dorian this time and we will be back! Besides the charm of this hotel and location, the staff went above and beyond. Anyone you met in the halls, elevators, front desk, restaurants, valet, were aways making sure you were enjoying your stay and were comfortable. Such an amazing staff, I can’t say enough! We have stayed at alot of resorts/hotels and have never had this attentive of service. Rooms were spacious and so unique. We of course had to purchase the Oscar Wilde novel from the front desk. I did not know much about Oscar Wilde before the hotel but left with a full literature experience. There was art everywhere you look which made the stay a magical experience. Cannot wait to stay again!
