Hilton Garden Inn Calgary Downtown

This is a good hotel. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the rooms are comfortable and there is secure underground parking.nnThe location is good for walking to various restaurants, shopping or tourist areas, however is it near a Drop-in Centre which supports vulnerable adults, homeless, recovering addicts etc. At night there were people using the restroom, sleeping and doing other potentially illegal activities, much like you would see in any bigger city. The hotel staff tried their hardest to make it comfortable for guests with younger kids, but they can only do so much.nnThis location is also near train tracks and the dinging from the train occurred all night long and the rooms weren’t the quietest. Again this is all stuff you experience in a city and I am used to it, but if you’re looking for a quiet stay, this is not the location.nnOverall 4 out of 5 stars and I would return.

I recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Calgary with my family, and while there were some positives, a few key issues made our stay less than ideal.nnFirst, the air-conditioning unit was extremely noisy. None of us had a decent night's sleep because of the constant loud hum. Additionally, the exhaust fan in the bathroom wasn’t very effective, which made it uncomfortable after showers. To top it off, there weren’t enough toilet rolls provided in the room. We had to call guest services twice to request more, which was inconvenient.nnAnother disappointment was finding that the dustbin in the bathroom hadn't been emptied prior to our arrival. It raised questions about how thoroughly the room had been cleaned.nnOn the positive side, the staff were pleasant and accommodating, and breakfast was decent with a good selection of options. The hotel’s location was also a plus, being centrally located and convenient for accessing downtown Calgary.nnOverall, while the staff and location were great, the issues with cleanliness and room comfort impacted our experience significantly.

This was an excellent hotel to stay at and was in a great location. Hotel room was clean and spacious and amenities were wonderful. We also had breakfast included every day and that was delicious and convenient. All staff were extremely helpful and pleasant to be around. Would go again for sure.

Location is fantastic, so close to everything we needed. The views are very nice of Calgary. The area is alittle intimidating to walk around alone but they do a great job with security guards at the doors of the hotel and keep it well locked up. The room was clean but had a smell to it. When we checked in we thought it would go away, upon returning later in the evening the entire room smelt like someone had just microwaved something with a strong food smell in it and the smell would not leave the room. It was late in the night and we both wanted to go to sleep and not move rooms I woke up numerous times throughout the night to the smell. After we left I had to wash everything we brought to the room immediately because the smell had stuck to everything. Over all made for an unpleasant experience in the room.

I had a terrible experience. At 4:30 AM, a woman who appeared to be drunk kept knocking on my door and trying to enter my room. I called the front desk, but no one answered. They picked up the second call and took about half an hour for the male staff member to take her away. During that time, I could still hear the knocking. Additionally, my room faced the train, and the noise from the trains made me difficult to fall back asleep. In the end, I chose to check out and leave at 7:30AM. I have stayed at Hilton hotels around the world, but this was definitely my most unforgettable experience.nnWhen I checked out, the female staff member at the front desk was very polite which made me feel little bit better.
