This was our first time visiting the new, renovated space.nThe building and staff are wonderful.nHowever, the homeless and drug users are a concern.nFrom the elevators and the stench of urine which is attached to both.nDrug users shooting up while sitting at a table in plain site...we had small children with us.nPlease note, anyone can enter the building. There are no checks or barriers to ensure you have an active library card which is concerning.nFeels like a homeless shelter rather than a library, unfortunately.
Best place for busy parents on the weekend!nThe kids normally play for +3 hours and as a parent you get to sit and rest while watching your kids. The books are great collection especially for kids; every time we go, we check out more than 30 books LOL! They are super educational and have great illustrations. You can then buy treats for the kids from second cup_ yummy donuts for $2 something!nHighly recommended!
Kid-friendly resources abound—storytimes, interactive wall displays, children’s maker spacesnnDowntown parking can be scarce; consider transit or ride-share.nnSecurity guards are therennvery peaceful atmospherennVariety of wooden games , tablets for kids playnnNeat and clean washroom
The Stanley A. Milner Library in Downtown is really big, with many study areas.nnI walked through all the open floors and noticed that, in addition to books available for borrowing, they also have music CD, DVD and more.nnI found that they provide different types of multipurpose rooms for use, such as game zone and makerspace. It is very diverse and interesting.
My recent visit to the Edmonton Public Library left me with a mixed bag of impressions, but overall, it was a positive experience. Upon entering I was greeted by a super-friendly old lady whose warmth and helpfulness set a welcoming tone for my visit. She efficiently assisted me with printing, making the process hassle-free.nnThe library's spacious layout immediately caught my attention, providing ample room for browsing and reading. The vast collection of books further impressed me, catering to a wide range of interests and preferences. It's undoubtedly a haven for book lovers.nnFor families with children, the Library offers a treasure trove of resources and activities. From engaging storytimes to educational workshops, there's plenty to keep young minds stimulated and entertained.nnHowever, it's important to note that during my visit, I observed a significant presence of homeless individuals using the computers on the third floor. While this didn't directly impact my experience, it's something to be mindful of, especially for visitors with specific concerns or preferences.
