Richmond Hospital

Story

Richmond Hospital is a medical facility located in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is responsible for Richmond Health Services and Richmond Hospital.HistoryRichmond Hospital first opened February 26, 1966 with 132 beds, and was first known as Richmond General Hospital. The first patient was admitted and the first baby was born in the hospital on March 17, 1966. The original building is now known as the "North Tower"; the "South Tower" was completed in 1980. In 1992 Richmond General Hospital was rebranded as "The Richmond Hospital" while the Minoru Residence extended care facility was opened two years later. In 1997 the Westminster Health Centre building was opened to house administration, psychiatry and ambulatory care. The same year the hospital was amalgamated with the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board. In 1999, due to space opened up by opening the Westminster building, the Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging were considerably expanded. The Vancouver/Richmond Health Board was re-structured to become part of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, which includes "Richmond Health Services" as the local umbrella organization. The hospital is currently part of Richmond Health Services and now known simply as "Richmond Hospital" (without the "The").

Absolutely terrible experience!!!!nMy brother meet with an accident & was brought here by the ambulance . When we came in the receptionist was so racist, we asked her to open door n she would pretend she didn’t listen and would talk to her asian patients. I had to call security guy, who was next to her office to get in.nBut the situation gets worst when my brother was kept overnight and next morning too on the ambulance exit gate. The receptionist would come n say to move him but the hospital staff would keep him over there. Like where are the rules ? Not only my brother was in danger but also there were so many transfer happening from that door. The nurses and receptionist have 0 empathy & follow no rules , casually sitting using phone and ignoring patients. Can’t understand how can you leave someone overnight & for next day on this gate it self
I had a wonderful experience at Richmond Hospital. Every nurse, doctor, and staff member I encountered was highly experienced and professional. I received the best care throughout my time there, and I am incredibly grateful for their dedication.nnI would like to give a special thanks to Medelene Kale and Teresa for their extraordinary support and care. Their kindness and expertise made a world of difference, and I felt truly supported during such an important time.nnThe birth experience at Richmond Birth Centre was exceptional, and I’m beyond thankful to have had such a positive experience.
I wish I read the reviews about this hospital before coming here . I’ve been in the emergency for over 24 hours . They forgot to bring me my food, they also forgot to give me my pain meds in a timely manner . This is the worst experience at any hospital I’ve ever been too and I’ve been too dozens of hospitals . They’ve now moved me in a hallway after I was already admitted 24 hours ago.
We just want to compliment on the excellent care my elderly Mother received from your team at the Richmond General. All the Doctors and Nurses were extremely caring, dedicated and professional.nFrom Dr Wong at ER to Dr Ngai/Dr Khan's timely diagnosis on her meningioma swelling and other issues. Then to the entire nursing team at the Medicine Acute Unit.nA BIG shout out to Mark and Chantal at the unit who were so kind, patient and diligent with my elderly Mother, especially with her language barrier.nMark was by I swear every 10-15 minutes on the first night to check on my Mother's vitals and ensuring her comfort.nChantal was ever so accommodating and thorough with her craft in dealing with my Mother's various illnesses or issues.nOf course, we can not forget the equally top notch, first class care my Mother received from Jessica, Randy, Theresa and Lillibeth. Please accept my apologies if we missed anyone during these chaotic 2 weeks.nWe will FOREVER be grateful.
You are better off risking death than visit this hospital. My mom and grandmother got off a cruise ship and my grandmother became ill. They took her to this hospital on a Saturday. She was diagnosed with influenza type A. A few IVs and Tamiflu and she would be on her way. Nope. The Dr took advantage of her being private pay since she was from the U.S. By the time she was discharged Monday for her flight home, she was diagnosed with low potassium, low magnesium, a kidney infection, UTI, kidney stone, blood infection, fluid in both lungs, and the doctor advised she stay for the entire week because all the tests they performed would take a week to come back......... even though they diagnosed her with all the above. My grandmother flew home and immediately went to her family Dr. A blood test, EKG, Ultrasound and x-ray showed there was absolutely no issues with her. Shame on this hospital and their doctors for putting an elderly person through so much bullshit. Let's not forget to mention they were extremely concerned with her oxygen level. Sooo concerned that when they brought her back from her ultrasound, they mistakenly never put her oxygen and pulse ox back on. 4 hours later when it was discovered, her O2 was 96. I'm not a Dr but 96 is normal and acceptable for a person above 80. Maybe I should apply to work at this hospital. I seem to know more than most.nIf you feel ill, just take the risk of death. The bill they send you in the end will give you a heart attack anyways. Might as well risk the drive to go somewhere else!!
