I arrived Emergency Department at 8:10 am and got my blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature took at 8:30. My symptoms were fever for 15 days, stuffy nose, sore throat and mucus, dry cough, short breath, heavy sweating and fast heart rate. Severe abdominal pain in the midnight yesterday.nnThen I was lead to a room to change a hospital gown and lay down for a doctor to visit me. Dr. Erin Kathleen checked me around 9:00, told me she planned IV injection of Sodium Chloride fluids because I keep sweating and it led to my dehydration and high heart rate at 117, and X-ray exam to see whether my lungs are being affected by such a long-time fever, also a bloodwork to further check any reasons for the fever.nnI didn’t wait too long and get my X-ray done at 9:23, and the nurse got me a warm blanket when I got back my room I really appreciate it since my gown is wet and became cold due to sweating.nnAfter that, another nurse came in to do IV for me, it was my first time getting IV in Canada, so the IV procedure was different than that in my home country. The insertion of cannula was a bit hurt, and the drip rate was assumed to be the fastest, so I lower the drip rate since I didn’t feel that comfortable.nnThen I got my bloodwork done by another friendly nurse at 9:50, she was really good at it, I didn’t feel too much pain when she inserts the needle, 10/10.nnAt around 11:00, Dr came back to me and said my X-ray results looked excellent, she prescribed me amoxicillin for 5 days and told me they will call me back if the results of my bloodwork shows I need other types of medication, and I’m free to go home.nnIt only took me less than 3 hours from arriving to leaving, and the services I got were excellent from the very beginning. Doctors and nurses listened to you and chatted with you to distract you from the pain of needles. It was my first time visiting hospital even emergency department in Canada, and I’m really satisfied with what I experienced. Thanks for my doctor Erin Kathleen and nurses from taking my blood pressure; triage; X-ray; IV; bloodwork sorry that I didn’t memorise all names. I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone who needs immediate medical attention.
Truly thankful for their kind and relatively prompt service. I’ve arrived at their ER before 4pm on a weekday. I was able to check in and admitted in a timely manner. Thought I had to wait upwards of 3+ hours as there were many people in the waiting area seated. But it turned out to be one hour before my injury was fully treated. I was pleasantly surprised by how nurses and doctors were thorough and helpful and had good bedside manners.
Thank you to the staff and amazing doctor who helped me on Monday. I really appreciate the kindness and care of the staff here and how helpful and truly caring they are. The doctor is the best I have ever met in my entire 30 years of living and is really compassionate, I wish I could give him a hug for making me feel like my pain is indeed real and did not dismiss any of my concerns. I wish we had more doctors like him. Thank you so much.
For some reason all new and old patients have to go through the Emergency Entrance and not the main entrance. So that got me a bit lost. It's the giant white doors marked emergency entrance. Hope that helps!nnHaven't been to a hospital in years but was really smooth and efficient. I arrived at about 8am got treated for flu and left about 11am so it took me 3 hours. All the staff/nurses are great and friendly! Dr Hunt saw to me and was friendly as well.
For a first time ever ER visit, it was better than expected. Wait time was true, a bit over an hour and was the least amount of wait time in all of Vancouver/Burnaby. I was in and out altogether after 2 and a half hours. The staff were patient, friendly and quality of care was impressive.
