I arrived Emergency Department at 8:10 am and got my blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature took at 8:30. My symptoms were fever for 15 days, stuffy nose, sore throat and mucus, dry cough, short breath, heavy sweating and fast heart rate. Severe abdominal pain in the midnight yesterday.nnThen I was lead to a room to change a hospital gown and lay down for a doctor to visit me. Dr. Erin Kathleen checked me around 9:00, told me she planned IV injection of Sodium Chloride fluids because I keep sweating and it led to my dehydration and high heart rate at 117, and X-ray exam to see whether my lungs are being affected by such a long-time fever, also a bloodwork to further check any reasons for the fever.nnI didn’t wait too long and get my X-ray done at 9:23, and the nurse got me a warm blanket when I got back my room I really appreciate it since my gown is wet and became cold due to sweating.nnAfter that, another nurse came in to do IV for me, it was my first time getting IV in Canada, so the IV procedure was different than that in my home country. The insertion of cannula was a bit hurt, and the drip rate was assumed to be the fastest, so I lower the drip rate since I didn’t feel that comfortable.nnThen I got my bloodwork done by another friendly nurse at 9:50, she was really good at it, I didn’t feel too much pain when she inserts the needle, 10/10.nnAt around 11:00, Dr came back to me and said my X-ray results looked excellent, she prescribed me amoxicillin for 5 days and told me they will call me back if the results of my bloodwork shows I need other types of medication, and I’m free to go home.nnIt only took me less than 3 hours from arriving to leaving, and the services I got were excellent from the very beginning. Doctors and nurses listened to you and chatted with you to distract you from the pain of needles. It was my first time visiting hospital even emergency department in Canada, and I’m really satisfied with what I experienced. Thanks for my doctor Erin Kathleen and nurses from taking my blood pressure; triage; X-ray; IV; bloodwork sorry that I didn’t memorise all names. I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone who needs immediate medical attention.
I was in Vancouver for work, when I began to experience sharp, debilitating pain recently diagnosed with endometriosis/fibroids and was barely able to walk. My husband looked up various wait times at ER's near the hotel I was staying at and found a minimal wait time at Mount St. Joseph's.nnMy Uber driver dropped me off a short distance away from the correct entrance, and simply the pain of walking to the entrance was excruciating - this is where nurse Louisa? found me and ushered me in, calling for a wheelchair immediately. I was triaged right away and given a bed within 15 minutes.nnNow, as someone who has been visiting urgent care more than I like in the past 18 months, the experience I had with your staff at this hospital was enlightening.nnFrom this first touch point at the door, ultrasound and discharge, every single staff member I interacted with was incredible - kind, empathetic and caring - everything you want your medical staff to be. But more than that, it was clear to me that these people are a rare breed that genuinely enjoy what they do.nnNot once was I made to feel rushed, or my symptoms dismissed.nI am certain that your aides, nurses and doctors all see cases like mine every day, yet I wasn't made to feel like that at all.nThe nurse I had the most interaction with I believe her name was Amy? was so sweet, and funny.nEven the ultrasound tech who had gone home for the night, made her way back just to help me.nnIn fact, as I was receiving medication and in between waiting for a doctor, I could hear the entire staff that night really enjoying each other's company. They were joyful, and consistently offering to help each other out. I could also hear their interactions with other patients that night, treating them as kindly and compassionately as they were treating me.nnI'm from Toronto and still find myself waiting for a specialist to assist with my care, but I sincerely wish that I could switch all my care to this hospital, where I know I would be treated efficiently and with such genuine kindness.nnThank you to the entire medical staff on hand that night - they truly opened my eyes to what care could, and should, be.
Thank you to the staff and amazing doctor who helped me on Monday. I really appreciate the kindness and care of the staff here and how helpful and truly caring they are. The doctor is the best I have ever met in my entire 30 years of living and is really compassionate, I wish I could give him a hug for making me feel like my pain is indeed real and did not dismiss any of my concerns. I wish we had more doctors like him. Thank you so much.
Fantastic experience well, as much as a hospital visit can be!. I was seen promptly at appointment time, and the staff were great especially the friendly and informative imagining technician with the hello kitty shoes.nnXray 505 could learn a thing or two about service and efficiency from the staff and imaging centre at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital.
This hospital has taken such good care of multiple family memebers of mine. As i currently am sitting in a bed , with what seems to be pneumonia of some sort. I was in a bed and had my own room with in 2 hours, of walking into emergency. The staff here are here are easy going and all have positive attitudes towards patients even that are difficult to deal with. Thank you guys for taking care of multiple generations of my family and more to come.
