Ration Beverley
"Situated in the heart of Toronto's Entertainment District, Ration Beverley is an exploration into the Canadian landscape and culture through the medium of food and drink. Although we look to farming communities who focus on sustainable and ethical practices for our seasonal menus, our story starts much further back than agriculture, but rather the details of preservation which allowed life to thrive on in this country, long before colonization. Fermentation, curing, smoking & pickling of high quality farmed, foraged and wild foods are the foundation of Ration Beverley."

I came here for a little celebration dinner and didn’t realize it was a Michelin guide recommended restaurant! Upon arrival, I fell in love with the decor and ambiance. The wooden furniture, the industrial lights, terrariums and candles on every table and the restaurant had no music. There were probably three other tables and a lady at the bar. It wasn’t too busy for a Saturday night. You get a QR code for the menu and cocktails. Our server also happened to be the bartender and oh boy, he made some killer cocktails. If you’re into fruitier cocktails, I highly recommend the miso cosmo and the hibiscus watermelon margarita. Near the end of the dinner, I also tried a new cocktail not on the menu - it was a chrysanthemum mezcal margarita, it’s more on the smoky side. I like it and I love the effort and creativity placed in every drink. We ordered a la carte thank goodness because we were starving. If you order the 6 or 10-course tasting menu, you’re looking at staying at the restaurant for the 2.5 hours/3 hours experience. We didn’t have time for that. $80 extra for wine pairings. If it’s your first time here, I highly recommend ordering a la carte so you know what to expect from their cuisine. Portions are small but very delicious. The chef himself came out and explained every dish to us, which I always appreciate. We ordered the beef tartare, beet salad for appetizers and the risotto and the lake erie pickerel for the mains. The dessert was an apple cider vinegar lavender maple pie, also a killer dessert, I just wish the portion was bigger because it was so damn good. I feel like each dish is more tapa style and more for sharing. Their portions aren’t meant to fill you up and quite honestly, we left the restaurant 60% full. 5 dishes and 3 cocktails came up to $185. It’s steep but we had a great time. The cocktails really made our dinner experience!
Brunch was of high value and quality. We got the beef cheek Cubano and beef cheek Benny, both were great, potatoes super tasty and enjoyed the freshness of the salad. The Benny was considered one of the best my bf has ever had in the city. Service was friendly and attentive. Coffee and mimosa great as well. Definitely will be back again!
If I could give it 6 stars, I would. My girlfriend and I went here for the pre-set dinner and it was one of the best dining experiences I've been to in Toronto. The dishes were incredibly creative and inventive and, most importantly, delicious. The staff were passionate and did an amazing job of explaining every dish and making recommendations on wine/cocktails. It's obvious why this place made it onto the Michelin Guide.
Great spot I popped into for brunch. Hadn't been since it changed up but enjoyed everything upon my visit and will come back for meals at other times of the day. Highly recommend trying any of the eggs Benedicts with any of their fun/unique mimosas.Food: 5/5
My friend had the truffle Benedict with pancakes and I had the beef/mushroom/bacon burger with fries which tasted good. However, I’m giving this place 5 because of their incredible waitstaff. The waiter, Ian, was a delight and the bartender made us customized mimosas when they had run out of the lychee & blueberry mimosas. I will definitely be frequenting this place henceforth!
I had an amazing experience here, like nothing I've ever had before. There were so many flavors in each dish and we ordered a perfect amount. Chef Joseph's Risotto was spectacular, it really hit it out of the park for us. We found all the staff to be super friendly and knowledgeable on every dish. Definitely an experience I won't forget.
The food is great. Highly recommend the lamb skewers if they’re on the dinner menu. Drinks are okay. The space is more suitable for brunch service as it is more on the bright and casual side. With dimmer lights it might be more dinner friendly. Service is very friendly and very helpful, though sometime inconsistent. Overall it’s an experience worth trying, I personally would return for brunch as the atmosphere and service are on par with the meal. Although their dinner menu and rotation is interesting, the interior and service could be improved.
I ate at this rooftop twice in 1 week and I had an amazing experience both times! The food and drinks are so creative and well put together. My favourite items were probably the risotto, the shrimp toast and the salmon, although it is difficult to pick. The service was amazing and when it started to rain, our server came to cover us with 3 umbrellas to make sure it wouldn't ruin our experience. All the cocktails were amazing, but I'd recommend getting some wine as well. My server was so knowledgable about their wine selection, it was very impressive. We got a wine I wouldn't normally gravitate towards and boy was I happy he recommended it. I can't wait to come back here many times in the future!
Incredible service and food. Had a six course meal, every dish was meticulously crafted. They even specialized the three course meal for my children. The cocktails were well paired and unique. The people were warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is trendy and cozy. I would come again in a heartbeat.Service: 5/5
Can't appreciate this place enough. We had a unique and amazing experience dining at this place. Everything is made from fresh ingredients and so many things are harvested in house. We ordered miso bread with koji butter, maitake and beef tartare. Such a myriad of flavors and at the same time so light to eat. The cocktails are refreshing and different from the traditional ones. Definitely ask for the dessert as its always changing. The one we had was so light and rich on the palate, it had blueberries, oregano sauce, fennel and many more things . Highly recommend eating at this place if you are someone who likes flavorful food.
