Michaels

Christian and Sonya worked together to help me figure out some details of making a halloween project - daft punk helmets! Both were so kind and so helpful, helping me come up with tons of different ways I could pull it off. I couldn’t have done it without them! Here’s an in progress pic I showed them - they did the rest :-

I never do reviews because I don’t usually get service that leaves an impression on me. But after my experience today I knew I had to leave at least some sort of comment. I went in to this location very last minute for a Halloween costume. Must have been right around 1-3 this afternoon and I was struggling to find an idea for a costume for a last minute gathering tonight and had no idea what to do. I was approached by a woman who identified herself as Wendy who was dressed in such a fun and colorful costume. She asked me if I needed help and then proceeded to help me put together a unique costume idea that was easy for me to do and so fun. I’m just so happy she took the time to help me. I know it couldn’t have been easy to help me put something last minute together but I appreciate the thought she put into it. I’ll be coming here again thanks to her help and kindness today. I also want to thank the young lady at the register who helped me as well. So many friendly and positive faces.

Arts and crafts aren’t really my thing, but this Michaels in downtown Toronto genuinely impressed me. If you’re visiting the city and have someone with you who’s into DIY projects, painting, or creative hobbies, it’s definitely worth a stop.nnThis store has everything: shelves of yarn, aisles of paint and brushes, seasonal decorations for Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and more. There’s a massive section of fabrics in every color, texture, and pattern imaginable — including a wide range of licensed material from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Peanuts, Snoopy, Barbie, and even The Nightmare Before Christmas. You’ll also find plenty of sewing notions, Cricut supplies, frames, artificial flowers, beads, and home décor pieces.nnThe location itself is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate even if you’re not an arts-and-crafts person like me. The staff were helpful and patient when I asked questions, and the atmosphere felt creative without being overwhelming.nnBottom line: Even if crafting isn’t your hobby, this Michaels on Richmond Street is an awesome place to explore — especially if you’re downtown for the day. You might walk out with a new appreciation for creativity or at least a great gift or decoration.

As always Michaels has anything and everything you might need for crafting. Pricing isn’t great, but there’s always a coupon or a sale.nnOnly 3 stars because I found that the vinyl sheets in the Cricut aisle were creased and crumpled, and I often have issues where they only have one of something no one would only buy just one of.

The store had everything I wanted but the checkout was impossible. There were three self checkouts and one cashier. When I arrived there were three customers ahead of me. If everything was working all four of us would be next but all three self checkouts were spinning that help was coming. No help came. A customer suggested that the lone cashier phone for help. The help cleared three machines and sent everyone to the cashier. The machines were not fixed but we were asked to use them. I scanned all 31 items and then the payment wouldn’t work. The cashier cleared my machine and he had to start over on his machine. He again called for help. I felt very sorry for him. One customer left his order behind. Plus, it was my first time at this location and I had to ask two strangers how to get to Michaels because there wasn’t any signage and I had to go around a corner and take an outdoor elevator to the second floor
