If you Google “the best places to camp in Ontario” this place will show up in almost every list you can find and it defines lives up to it. The campgrounds are spacious and well maintained. Washrooms are most of the times clean and usable. There is constant vigilance by park wardens during the day and nights. Careful not to leave your food outside when you leave your camp for too long and always follows rules here. The hiking trails are fun and exciting. From 30mins to several hours. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves to camp. there are many canoe rentals around who would deliver canoe to the lake and you can row away. The prices for canoe rentals start from $28 per day. Great place for stargazing if it’s a clear sky.
I have been going to Algonquin park for years. Generally a friendly environment for families and friends. Wardens are slightly strict when they want to be. So be careful on following rules. Wardens are also not friendly or considerate. Camp sites are well maintained. Washroom facilities are adequately maintained. Although it took several days to fix 2 broken showers, leaving only 3 working showers for a camp of over a hundred people. The hiking trails are fun and exciting. Ranging from easy to hard. From 30mins to several hours. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves to camp.
Great campground, especially for families with kids. Very open, covered in pine trees but no issues with dripping sap which was a very nice surprise. There were some mosquitoes but start a campfire and they all go away. The bathroom was cleaned like every hour as I went many time as I was 26 weeks pregnant and it was clean every time. I was very impressed at the quality of the upkeep of the site. Firewood was not sold at this site but they have signs everywhere to go to the next campground over Mew Lake to buy it there. We went and it was a smooth transaction and we got some without any trouble. If you forgot something at home or just craving some snacks I highly recommend to check out the "Lake of Two Rivers Grocery & Campstore" that is a full on store with a cafe next door that does online orders and has ice cream for your kiddos.
Had a wonderful time with my hubby. Washrooms and showers we’re clean as they were constantly cleaning them and polite staff members. However it was extremely frustrating that all their firewood was wet even tho it hasn’t rained for days and it was our only option as outside wood isn’t allowed. Also had a very tiny beach filled of geese poop but since it’s hiking season not swimming we didn’t mind!
Wonderful campsite, very comfortable with access to showers & toilets and the nearby shop with café yet in the middle of Canadian wilderness. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great camping experience, perfect gateway, peaceful beautiful place.
If you like tall tall pine trees reaching for the sky and in nights trying to touch stars above, this is the place, this is the campsite you should be at in Algonquin. Lake is close by, good for Canoeing and small engine Boating. Beach is not that long but good enough. Fall colours around the Park are in abundance, many trails such as OutLook Trail is the best inclyding Beaver Dam Trails. Excellent bike ride trails nearby too. Water is fine, a few taps around to fill but bathrooms are only two, clean but a few only. Hot water takes time to come but it works. There is a Cafe and general store nearby if you need cup of coffee or sandwich etc. If you need more, then your only option is to drive down to Huntsville for Walmart and Canadian Tire. Overall a good campsite.
The park was easy to find. It is just off of highway 60. There is pavement all the way until you access the parameter roads which are deplorable. There is no way anyone can dodge the pot holes even on a bicycle. Signage is adequate. Check in on week days was non existent. One just found your way to your reserved campsite and set up. Park staff drove by and I guess they had a list of what type of equipment was supposed to be deployed because they never stopped by to confirm our reservation. The rules are fairly basic. Our site,108, was a large space that one could have made into a pull through had a large tree, that was about center, not been in the way. We had to back in because the power 30 amp only post was located a the extreme left rear of our site and a large tee prohibited making use of the center area. The power post is shared with the next door site. We had enough power cable to connect without using our extension cable. Sadly, next door could not as the power was to their right rear. Our site was not flat or even. The tree in the center of our site had large exposed roots radiating out. Our auto levelers allowed us to place the coach where we wanted though. Distancing is good for a rural park. Some sites had a vegetation privacy barrier but very sparse. Each site has a table and a fire pit. Overall the park was as rustic looking as we expected. Water taps are few and far between so be sure your fresh water tank is full. Trash receptacles are located only at the exit of the park so not very convenient. There is NO park included wifi or cable TV. We did not find any OTA TV. Satellite might be difficult because of the trees. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean. There are trails in the park as well as Kayak and Canoe rentals available from private vendors that can be delivered to the park site. There is a restaurant and small store within easy walking distance at the park entrance other than that, you can find food, shopping and convenience stores at Huntsville which is quote a distance away. We found this park to be poorly laid out. Sites maintenance neglected. Algonquin is famous world wide and one would expect a government operated RV/Campground to be world class We paid $60.00 per night plus reservation fees and taxes and we feel we received poor value.
Nice warm beach, large camp space, spot 4 had showers and flushing toilets right beside it all clean, roads were nice. Little privacy as there aren't many trees between sites, but campers were very respectful and everyone had a good time. Also barely any bugs on our visit yesterday! Being from NWO it was a BIG plus! You don't need a permit ticket if you've booked before hand, just find your spot, though staff were in the booth until 8pm to ask questions of. Also we had to go to Mew lake for fire wood as our campground ran out, no problem really as its a short drive. Also a café/restaurant/store was 3 mins away which opened at 8am, reasonably priced!
Spent an amazing time at this campground with the family!! Smog and rains created an amazing morning view! We actually saw a black bear right across the road from where our tents were, but the rangers were very diligent and always kept an eye out. Kids LOVED it!
Good campsite. But only one comfortable station, need to lined up for most times.
