Homewood Suites by Hilton Calgary Downtown

So... we booked the wrong date. Yep, showed up 10 days early. But the Filipina lady at the front desk was absolutely lovely--she sorted it out for us and even got us a better rate.nThe suite was perfect for our family of three: quiet, super clean, and the pillows were ridiculously comfynBreakfast was included and actually really good--oatmeal, fresh fruit, eggs with hashbrowns, and sausagesnOnly downside? Waiting for warm water in the shower took a while. But overall, great stay!

Melody was so pleasant, polite, patient and just gave the best customer service. Not only her but all the staff that was on even at night were so pleasant and helpful. Even the server who helped with the morning buffet went out of her way. This place is giving fantastic customer service through their staff - we had a great experience because of all of them!

This unfortunately was not as great of a Hilton as I have previously stayed in.nnThey did not provide very much-needed essentials for a kitchen which is the exact purpose for why someone would want to stay at a homewood suite.n- There was only package of dishwasher powder and the liquid they provided on the subsequent nights was subpar.n- We had an incredibly dull chopping knife on our first night, I ended up having to break food up w my fingers. On our second night, we asked for another sharper knife. This knife was also rather dull.n- They did not provide a cutting board.n- They provided two small rags for the dishes.n- The majority of the cutlery and pots were stained.nnThe water in both the sinks were either very hot or very cold. The hot water in the shower only lasted at max 5 mins, regardless of the time of the shower.nnThe remainder of the room and bed were nice. They provided an adequate number of towels. It was mainly quiet at night and did not hear any other guests moving about in their suites. The area was decently located for getting around, but the front door is always locked which really tells you all you need to know about the area. Security was constantly monitoring the interior and exterior areas which was good.nnStaff were really helpful, always pleasant and willing to help.

A great hotel to stay on. Well maintained rooms with all kitchen stuff. Vessels ,and a dishwasher too.nStaff were extremely friendly and courteous.nA special mention to maninder who helped us a lotnI would recommend anyone who wishes a good stay in CalgarynAs it is geographically well placed nearby to all attractions

This has been a thoroughly unpleasant hotel experience.nnI want to start by emphasizing this is not on the staff, but a lack of resources and contingency plans from the company.nnOur stay started with an hour-long check-in. The computers wouldn't load in either the Homewood or Hilton lobbies, leaving the staff helpless since they couldn't check records or make room keys. This severely cut into our rest time prior to an event. It took speaking to a manager and troubleshooting solutions to get us into a clean room.nnThe room was immaculately clean, but the water from the taps took forever to warm up, and there was a significant crack in the sink. We soon found out that night that the soundproofing was also terrible. The LRT is right outside the room, running every 10 minutes. The wall the bed was against was terribly thin and we got to listen to a woman thoroughly enjoy herself all night long.nnIn the mornings, the complimentary breakfast was terrible. I can best describe the scrambled eggs taste as hot dog water. The sausage was horribly dry and tough.nnOn our second night we went to the pool, which was nice enough. But on returning to our room, the key refused to let us in despite activating the elevator. So we had to return to the lobby, dripping wet, for a new key.nnAgain, I emphasize the staff were doing their best. They can't be blamed for the computers not working, or not having a company contingency plan for analog service. There was only one staff on hand for breakfast which slowed the whole process down.nnWe will not be staying at the Homewood Suites again.
