This place is disgusting specially for $200 a night. The manager and housekeeping should be fired. You can do all the updating and renovation but when you have poor housekeeping it’s still gonna be dirty and gross. The bed and sheets has stains on it the bed is uncomfortable all you can feel is the bumps of fabric on it. Breakfast is gross yogurt in the machine comes out nuke warm surprise no one gets sick from it. This is the worst best western I’ve ever stayed at should be rated a 1 star hotel. Coffee maker is disgusting gross. Look like the garbage can never gets moved black unknow garbage under it maybe mouse droppings not sure. Also there were no sheets or pillows for the couch/bed.
It started positive with a room upgrade, so we thought this would be a great stay from my previous stay on business. The room was clean but the furniture and fixtures are quite dated and stained. When staying with family, my young toddler had a unfortunate nose bleed in the night due to dry conditions of the room. We spoke to the cleaning lady in the morning and apologized for the cleaning of the sheets. The shock we got was an email saying that they are charging us 270+ dollars for the bedding damage. We contacted them to discuss as we thought this was unreasonable and we were willing to pay a fee for the damage but not 270+ dollars. Unfortunately they refused all response to reconsider. We contacted Best Western customer service to assist with a resolution but we received the same response after further mediation. I would like to warn anyone who might have young kids who have unintentionally accident in the room, you will be charged with no recourse for understanding. Please reconsider your choice to stay in the future, considering what you could be charged. 100 dollar fee hold for incidental doesn't make much difference as they can change what ever they want when you leave the premise. I hate to see in the future a family struggling be saddle with a bill for accident staying in a hotel.
Room was very clean, staff all polite and professional. It was our first time staying in downtown Calgary and we were very impressed and felt extremely safe coming and going in the evening. Price for the night felt more than fair for the amenities and location. The view was gorgeous as well. We had the 6th floor corner room overlooking the parking lot. We will definitely be staying here again for our visits to Calgary!
Honestly the breakfast is carrying this place on its back.nThere's a large standard breakfast buffet each morning with meats, eggs, potatoes, oatmeal and cereals with toppings, parfait station, different bread options, waffle bar, juices and coffee/tea/hot chocolate station. The staff working this area are great too, always cleaning up and keeping everything stocked. This was probably the highlight of the stay.nThe hotel is only about a 5-10min walk away from the c-train which was pretty convenient. There is also some good restaurants, grocery and coffee shops within a walkable distance.nThe price was pretty good for the location and overall product.nnUnfortunately a lot of things were not great. We stayed mid November so temps were around freezing, and you could tell if you opened the blinds. The windows have no insulation and are letting in so much cold air you have to keep the black out drapes drawn and the heat on constantly.nThe heater was also pretty noisy and would make some sketchy noises. When it would kick on in the middle of the night, it created a knocking noise which sounds like someone trying to get into your room.nThere is a sign under the light switch in the bathroom which refers to there being a fan which runs when you turn on the light, we never heard the fan kick in and there isn't a separate switch for this.nThe tub has jets but do not look like they have been cleaned and had mold on them.nWhen using the shower, if you put the hot water tap too far over it would make a sound similar to that of a jack hammer coming from the pipes in the wall.nThe kitchenette had a mini fridge, microwave and sink. There was pans but no stove or hot plate, which kinda defeats the purpose of having a whole additional kitchen area.nI found the pillows to not be very firm and would be nice if they could have another pillow or two in the closet.nThe room seemed dated, but they did have ads saying they would be remodeling.nImportant to note, the room itself aside from the tub was clean. So if you are okay with some things being a little jank, but close to everything you wanna be and save some cash, then this place is fine.
The cost vs the quality of the room wasn't great. Rather expensive for what it is. The room was fine, nothing really to report on. The windows are very thin, so even on a high floor you can hear the road noise all night. Luckily we take earplugs for this.nThe breakfast wasn't very healthy and lacked range. It was also served on paper plates and with plastic cutlery, which is quite frankly ridiculous.nnOverall, room does the job, but nothing fancy, and a bit expensive
