Stayed here on a recent business trip and had a great experience. The Downtown Marriott is super well located—right in the heart of Calgary and very walkable. My room was clean, comfortable, and had a surprisingly nice view for downtown.nnThe staff were friendly and helpful, and I really liked the little lounge area and the convenience of having food and drinks on-site. There's also a Starbucks in the lobby, which made mornings easy.nnThe fitness centre was another plus—spacious, clean, and well-equipped, which is great when you're trying to stay on track while traveling.nnWould definitely stay here again for business. Solid choice all around.
I was just here over the weekend for a work conference. The room was clean and comfortable. I loved the whiskey bar downstairs, they make a great whisky sour! I also enjoyed the pillow spray and wanted to bring some back as souvenirs for my staff but you could only get them online. However, the front desk was so sweet and gave me a bunch of samples to take home! Thank you for memorable trip!
Just had 2 wonderful short stays there. It's now among my favourite hotels in the North America. Special thanks to Gen Gen for taking care of us so well, from the moment we checked in until we left.nThe M Lounge is unique and I really like the self-service concept, even though alcohol is not free. The tomato soup was excellent.nWith such a central location, I highly recommend the Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel for anyone coming to Calgary.
So I am here for both pleasure and a conference for work. I came a couple days early and stayed at the Hyatt right by the conference centre and then moved over to the Marriott for the duration of the conference. The reason I moved is because I am/ was a loyal Marriott customer. What a downgrade and disappointment. Typically because I am a bonvoy member and have been for a very long time, I am offered something upon arrival. What I was offered was $20 off the $100 fee to have access to the breakfast in the morning and the hors d'oeuvres in the evening which I received for no extra charge at the Hyatt. The rooms are okay but they look much nicer in the pictures. I will say the beds are comfortable. The elevator broke not long after we checked in. I am presently recovering from a serious ankle surgery and had to walk down eight flights of stairs with my cane. Doable but not pleasant. The other couple that had to walk down the stairs told us they had just had to call maintenance to fix their television as well. Not impressed. Oh and one more thing, the hallways are hot/muggy and they smell like an old casino where they used to allow smoking. I am sorry Marriott. I am usually a fan.
This Marriott is dated, dark and dingy. The photos and reviews are misleading. Even pulling it up it’s a dated old building and they charge $50 for valet parking. The parking garages are not easy to find. Also, the beds are so small not a queen more like a full views of the roof and we are Marriott Platinum members. Would not choose this hotel again!nnPs - a lot of crazy drug addicts in area yelling crazy things to themselves !
