This place came highly recommended so thought I would try. Every item our server Mai recommended was awesome! Loved the crispy garlic butter wings! Loved the deep fried squid in fish sauce! Loved the crab fried rice! Loved the mojitos! Those who went out of their way to give a 1 star review complaining of price without even tasting the menu are just nuts.
A new restaurant on Fraser Street and my first time there. I thought the spicy beef noodle soup was very flavourful. The others enjoyed their meal, too.
I saw this newly opened Ho Chi Minh Vietnamese restaurant on ins, so I came here to try it out. The store is small but busy during dinner time. Pomelo Salad I love this! Very refreshing, it comes with pork and shrimp. The sweet and juicy pomelo, the overall seasoning is sour and sweet. You can eat with the fried shrimp crisp. Fried Crab Rice It has real crab meat and tastes very good although it looks ordinary. Lemongrass Chicken I ordered an add on, but I did not feel the taste of lemongrass ... Beef Stew with rice noodles The vermicelle was a bit too fine and soft, not my cup of tea. Although there were a lot of big pieces of beef brisket, it was too tough. Nice little spot for Vietnamese food. The pomelo salad is light and refreshing. We also ordered the beef stew with banh mi but the beef was a little tough. Perhaps we'll come again to try other dishes sometime but for sure if you want beef stew then Merci Beaucoup cafe does a much better rendition.Food: 4/5
New modern twist on Vietnamese. Garlic butter chicken wings were delicious, little more pricey than your usual Pho place. Decor is nice and modern. Washrooms very low ceiling with a hole in the ceiling above the toilet for a sprinkler that looks a bit weird but otherwise nice clean washroom. Probably better for groups so you can try more dishes
HAI CHI EM Vancouver I was interested to try this new-ish modern Vietnamese restaurant on Fraser St! Overall it was ok. 1. CRISPY GARLIC CHICKEN WINGS $18 These were good, but not amazing. I prefer ones from Com, Bonjour Vietnam, Longtail Kitchen, Sen Pad thai. These wings were more dry-crispy as opposed to the caramelized fish sauce-crispy ones. Although there were a TON of garlic chips, it was missing that punch in flavor. 7/10 2. SHRIMP SALAD ROLLS $10 These were good, pretty standard! 6.5/10 3. SHAKING BEEF WITH RICE $25 Definitely the star of the show. It was pretty tasty and the beef was cooked to perfection. For this price though, I would have to say I would rather spend $4 extra and get the Steak Luc Lac from Lunch Lady! 8/10 Overall it was a decent meal. Service was ok. I would want to come back to try their Pho or Lemongrass Chicken on Rice though!
Food was so unique and amazing! The pomelo salad was very interesting, hadn’t seen these types of food at a Vietnamese restaurant before. Highly recommend!
Amazing food. Best Viet in city. Ingredients are fresh and everything tastes high quality. The pho reminds me of mom's.Food: 5/5
Dined here last night. Loved their crispy garlic butter chicken wings. Great portion for the lemongrass pork with rice. We also tried the deep fried squid which was too salty for our taste. Wish there’s more shrimp and pork in their salad roll.
Ordered both the noodle soups. The Bun Bo Hue was super flavourful, I like how it has more of a shrimp paste taste than most restaurants do. The pho was super rich too I enjoyed it a lot. Iced coffee was good tasted normal. I would come back again. The only thing I'm sad about is it costed me almost $30 for my portion of my lunch group of 2
