Went to this family-owned Northern Vietnamese restaurant recently and was impressed with the food. Got the Fish Cake, Shrimp Cake & Crab Paste Vermicelli Soup and it was delicious. We also tried Chicken Noodle Soup and Steamed Snail Sausage for the very first time and they were great as well. Portion sizes were big and the prices were reasonable. Don’t forget to bring cash though. They only accept cash.
We came here for dinner as people highly rated this new Vietnamese restaurant. This restaurant used to be Tina’s cake house but now it is a Vietnamese restaurant serving hot food and coffee beverages. We ordered a house special and freshwater Snail and Steam Snail Sausage Vermicelli. I was scared to eat snails, so my husband ate the dish and said it was great and had a very unique flavour that we couldn’t eat it at other Vietnamese restaurants. I tried the house special. The soup base or broth tasted good and looked clean without too much oil or fat. The restaurant also put a lot of beef in the dish. I liked the beef that was not too fatty I couldn’t finish the noodles so I brought the leftover home. I ate it the next day. It still tasted great!!! And the noodles did not become soaky and soft. The business owners came to the front and had a chat with us. They recommended us trying the fish cake and crab cake noodles next time. Yeah!! We will for sure go back and try other dishes. There is street parking, so don’t need to worry about parking problems.
This is a traditional vietnamese restaurant that serve authentic Vietnamese dishes that is normally serve to the locals here. I order The Bun Rieu and Bun Oc and both are very good here. The outside of the restaurant is under some major renovation and decor is very simple but the food is very good. Give it a try and you wouldn’t be disappointed.
Tried this new Vietnamese restaurant on Kingsway located close to Fraser Street. Only been open for about 2 months. Small, simple restaurant. One man staff, plus cook in the back. He was very helpful and friendly. The food was great. We ordered No. 6, chicken and beef pho. The chicken pieces were bigger than expected and the broth was different from other Vietnamese restaurants. Also ordered No. 24. Fresh water snail and steam snail sausage pho. This dish had a unique lemon grass broth flavor. I couldn't get enough. But bowl was large, packed with lots of noodles and snails. Couldn't finish it. Also ordered No. 25, Grilled beef in lolot leaf, beef ribs and shrimp cakes as well as No. 30, Vietnamese shaking beef on rice. Both dishes my wife n mom enjoyed. Beef packed with flavor and was very tender. Also had the Vietnamese Ice Coffee. Very strong and very good. We'll be back to try some of their other dishes. Give this spot a try if you like Vietnamese food! Oh, this place is cash only as well.
Good food, friendly staff, but watch out for over billing! Food ordered were #3, 10, 19 and 37. Was charged for #37 that never came. Cash only on hand written receipt... Hmm. There are good food all over Vancouver so it would hard press for us to go there again with a wad of cash in hand.
Their fish cake crab vermicelli and snails vermicelli are seriously mouth-watering. The portions are massive so you won't leave feeling hungry. Definitely give it a try.
Finally checked out Van 168 Coffee for a late night, Northern Vietnamese dinner. It’s run by a friendly woman. We shared a bun bo hue $17.50 and bun rieu cha ca, cha tom $17.50. Both bowls were large, filling portions. Broth was flavourful and came out piping hot. Generous portions of meats. Cash or EFT payment only. Looking forward to coming back to try their bun oc cha oc.
Big portions, worth every pennies you paid. This is authentic Vietnamese food, the woman was so nice and friendly. I came with a group, we ordered Bun Oc cha Oc, Bun Rieu and Pho Bo Sa Te. All of us were sooo full. I found Bun Oc and Bun Rieu are the best in town.
I love their fish cake noodles and bun rieu. Portions are very generous, and the soup is served piping hot as it should be. I love the extra greens/dill in my soup as well. To finish everything off, I have their iced coffee, which is made fresh and very tasty. I just wish they had delivery on Skip or Uber because I would definitely order!!
I like the fact that this restaurant serves Northern Pho, I've been craving it for a while and honestly, the Pho Tai here was good. I don't know if the Siracha bottles are reused or if they didn't throw the expired sauce away. The siracha bottle I used said the expiry date's March 17th, 2023. Remember you can only pay by cash so please be aware to bring some along.
