Decided to give a new Vietnamese/Cambodian place, La Maison Saigon 54, a go. Standard menu. Three pho sizes: regular $13.25, large $15.25 and XL $16.25. - Deep fried spring rolls $7.95 for 2 - didn’t try but the spring rolls were tiny. - Herbs - basil, cooked bean sprouts and lime wedges. - Bun bo hue $15.25 large - good variety of meats but unfortunately, they gave us two pieces of beef gone bad. First time experiencing that. Disappointing broth; no depth, lacklustre. A well below average BBH. - Hu tieu bo kho $15.75 large - beef pieces were overcooked. Thought we were getting bo kho but it wasn’t a stew. No carrots. - Pho ga $13.25 regular - J asked for his broth to be spicy. Was told his bowl was okay. Regular size is closer to a small. No plans to go back to LMS 54. 2.5 stars.
Tried out this new place in South Van and it didn't disappoint! Really clean and nice ambience. Service was fast! Ordered the Luc lac, perfectly seasoned and portions are very generous. I ordered my egg to be a little over hard but can have it runny depending on your preference. The chicken wings were also great, well-seasoned and perfect with the sauce. Order half if you're alone. The full might be too much for one. The pho was also excellent and the broth was tasty! I'd come back again!
Excellent food and great service; the portions are generous for how much they charge. Great atmosphere and clearly a lot of care has gone into renovations. Will be back for more!Food: 5/5
Very lovely place to dine at! I've gone there twice so far, and the waiters were welcoming and courteous. The first time, I had a small bowl of the house special pho with a side of popcorn chicken, and the both of them were great. They really know how to make the chicken just right, amazingly crispy on the outside yet with a soft and chewy interior. The bowl was a bit small, but I did order a small bowl so that one's on me! Though small, it was packed with all different types of meat, more than other pho shops I've tried. Though small, the bowl only costed me ~$13, plus a 10% discount which made it well worth it. The second time I decided to get an extra large bowl of pho, where the price was only a couple dollars more than the small. But it was too big! I could barely finish it with the large portion size. I'll have to stick with a medium size bowl next time!
I was very happy when I knew there is a Vietnamese restaurant in the mall. I ordered noodle in soup but it was not much taste. I needed to add more sauce to make eatable. Not good service we were not expecting really good service but his both hands were in the pocket. I don’t recommend to anyone.
I’ve gone here with a friend and my parents to dine in. First time I tried Bun Cha with a friend ordering #50 Lemongrass Pork and Spring Rolls Vermicelli $16.50 and #58 Lemongrass Chicken with minced meat $17.50 portions were generous. Spring rolls were crispy and tasty. My friend didn’t like minced meat which tasted like Spam. I liked the #50 it was good, but vermicelli didn’t have chewy texture. Then on a second visit, I brought my parents for lunch since this resto was close to home. I ordered #14 combo with wings Pho+ side dish $18.95 and 2 of #19 BBH small size. Soup was pretty bland. My parents and I couldn’t taste anything from the soup. We ended up asking the server to bring us soy sauce and some chilli oil it tasted little better. Staff were nice and courteous. Female staff came to check on us she was very nice. I was glad this place was open just that food was bland. Chicken wings were good.
I eat a lot of Pho. So I know it's all in the broth. This is pretty meh. Spring rolls same. Plus they have a bit of a rosewater taste, which has its place, but not in aspring roll. Disappointed.
According to my Vietnamese wife...it's Vietnamese food for white people. Small portions, bland tastes, even to an old white guyFood: 2/5
