I have Vietnamese food quite often and I came here because of a friend recommendation. She was Vietnamese, so I knew it was going to be good. The experience was way over my expectation! There are only a small handful of items on the menu and some drinks. We had the northern Vietnamese crab noodle soup and the duck noodles. The soup was rich and flavourful, and the owner said it took 12 hours to cook. I’d say this is the best in town for crab noodle soup. The noodles were perfectly cooked too. The portion of the duck was large and the meat was so tender. Although dipping sauce came with the duck, I added their tasty but very spicy homemade chili sauce. The owner was very enthusiastic when I asked him any questions, and gave us a complimentary kumquat tea drink which was very fruit and delicious, not too sour. I highly recommend this place for who like northern Vietnamese food.
Nice Northern Vietnamese restaurant with nice service. They do cash and card. We came for dinner on a week night and there was no wait or sold-out items The crab noodle soup was light and sweet but also deeply flavourful at the same time. The chicken oil rice was a simple but satisfying dish. It was my first time trying northern viet food so I don’t have a strong opinion on it, but portions were filling, the food was yum, and the server was nice, so I will be coming back! :
Wow, so many exciting new authentic Vietnamese restaurants have opened up lately on Victoria Drive. We gave Hoa Phuang Do Restaurant a try because of the very interesting dishes on their menu. It’s a small restaurant with lovely décor and beautiful tree trunks dining tables. Authentic Vietnamese operators and servers. They only have six items on their menu, but all of them sound interesting. We ordered the Blood Congee w/ Pork Innards, the Special Fish Cake & Vermicelli in Soup, and the Vermicelli w/ Duck Leg. Every dish turned out fabulous and tasted very different than typical pho dishes. Every dish was packed full of goodies. The blood congee was packed full of innards, delicious and filling. They threw in a lot of crunchy and chewy fish cakes with the noodle soup. And the barbecue duck leg which was served on the side was huge!. Well worth the money!
My favorite food here is crab noodle soup and “banh beo”. Fish noodle soup is just so so for me. The restaurant is quite busy during lunch time on weekend, but for sure I will still come back to try more food. The owner is super nice and friendly, highly appreciate their service!
Recommend their crab noodle soup bánh đa cua. Add some tamarind juice and chili oil in it if you want stronger flavors. My family is from the region where this dish is famous for and this restaurant’s able to bring the authentic flavor here. Amazing!Recommended dishesCrab Noodle Soup
My expectation was high after reading reviews here but was totally disappointed after the visit. Ordered their best in the menu according to the server, the special fish ball cake vermicelli in soup. The fish balls were thin and dry and soup had heavy msg. Definitely it's not my place for Vietnamese food.
Authentic Vietnamese food in town. Good food, reasonable price and welcoming atmosphere. Don’t forget to bring cash cuz they’re cash only.
Brought me directly back to Asia with the flavors! Deliciously yummy soup, ingredients and noodles. Portion size is just nice! Soup is full of authenticity. North Vietnamese cuisine. I shall be back again for their meat rolls - very dear to heart.
Had the beef jerky salad, Vietnamese style braised pork feet, and the Hai Phong pate baguette. At first we thought it was very pricy, but the dishes were quite big and worth the price. Everything was tasty and the service was friendly.
Very good authentic northern Vietnamese cuisine! Every dish was done right . Things do sell out like their crab noodle soup and congee so come early so you’re not disappointed. Crab Noodle Soup was rich and flavourful. Blood congee was also delicious. Vermicelli with BBQ pork was well seasoned and generously portioned. The tofu, pork belly, and stuffed intestine dipped in shrimp paste is for the adventurous foodies out there. It’s my absolute favourite dish!
